Project Geosynchronous Orbit

i dont think that angled tube coming down from the engine cage in that orientation is going to do a whole lot. it's not triangulated in the direction in which it needs it. but then again i'm no expert. :)

I have to agree... I would do a crossover bar/brace across the top of the motor (wait, your intake will probably get in the way of that! dammit) from one fender tube to the other, then bring a tube nearly straight up (tipped in a bit) from the bumpstop/coil perch to it on each side.

But I can't even account for torque being split in half by a transfer case so what do I know... :looney:

I know it's not ideal, but it's better than just relying on the frame rail.

I can't understand how it's not helping at all.

In my mind, when I rail the bumpstops with this setup, it's going to try to lever it off the frame and this tube would take that force and try to lift the whole outer tube work.

Yeah, can't do a crossover tube. Nor do I want to get that involved at this point. I mostly just want my bumpstops to survive, not open up a can of worms and add more and more tube. I was hoping to save that for when I go to coilovers up front.

I guess that tube could be doing more. but I think it will help brace it quite a bit.

I cant believe how rusty you junk is considering it most likely hasnt been exposed to salt since the whole was sanded down and painted.

It's been trailered during some heavy rain.

And sat outside uncovered during a pretty nasty rainstorm up in NH (flooded out the campground).

I'm pretty neglectful

i wouldnt say it isnt helping at all, i just dont think it's going to hold the fort down in the event of a heavy hit. i hear ya though, and i would imagine it would last long enough to get some coilovers in there, assuming they're actually in the plans.

Probably not doing coilovers for at least a year.

I'd like this setup to last me a full racing season.

Hmm... that's a hard one Colin, I don't like it either for holding up to heavy hits, but I am having a hard time seeing a better way to do it right now. The only thing I can think of is removing the tube you put in, and running two tubes off the top of the coil mount in a "V", effectively spreading the load a bit more on that upper tube. I know its more tube, but I think your going to need it in that spot.

I can double check it tonight/tomorrow, but tire clearance was an issue when I checked for that last time.

needs moar triangles!! yeah, your frint end setup kinda sucks for doing any proper way of bracing that mount. just wing it like always, break it, then go to coilovers sooner and cut all that BS back off.

yup, that'll hold up for some "normal" racing for a race or two, but one "oops i didnt see that crest, airtime, WHABAM" all those pieces are trash. you have a BIG heavy lever of a front end and i would hate to see those framerails ripped up if something like that happens. it sucks, but you really need an engine cage to brace it right.

I have something in mind that I think will beef it up. I'll revisit it in a few weeks, just too much going on at the moment.

Just about ready to race. Need to finish the door bars and add the window net mounts which should be here on Tuesday. You can see the new PS reservoir location and the 3/4" rod I bent up for a resting spot for the winch hook.

needs moar stuff sticking out of the hood

Made it to the race at Rausch Creek this past Saturday, put on by Line Mtn 4 wheelers.

Had an absolutely blast. Finished the race 13th in the LWB class, 60th overall out of 124 racers. The front 7100s/rear 5150s were junk after 1 mile on the first lap and it was bumpstops the rest of the 50 mile race. Oh...and the bumpstop towers held up great :D.

So on top of the shocks going out, the orbital return line fell onto the belt and drained all my PS fluid at the start of the 4th lap. Was able to fix that, but I wasn't too happy with the fuel setup. Only 15 gallons and at 2 mpg (roughly), I had to pit every 2 laps. I'm going to talk to Timmay from LII about possibly a 32gal cell.

Ready to race

Aftermath (you can see the PS fluid all over the fender tubes). I've probably spent about 2 hours total and I probably have 80% of the mud off.

My handwriting sucks so my name is Coun Pellegrvoo

I was disappointed as well.

Not sure yet. Possibly some 2.5 smooth bodies for the front and 2.0s for the rear.

Can't really afford to drop too much coin at this point.

Coun, as long as you'll be ready for NACFest I don't care if you have some white-bodies under it (maybe 2 per corner). :dunce:
