Project: Freak of Nature

I was looking at doing it over the knuckle. Will have to do new sway bar mounts as well.

Why do you suggest otk steering over wj swap?

I was referring to the trac bar mount. My jeep has a teraflex knuckle so it's kind of irrelevant.

It doesn't matter if you go over or under. If i were to build one for the baby jeep it would have the draglink on top and trac bar on bottom.

Well decided to build a bastard pack for the rest of the Jeep since it was starting to sag a little. Ended up using a set of stock xj springs and using the main and 1st leaf springs out of them and put them in our leaf pack. Surprisingly we actually gained 2" of lift out of it. Doesn't ride bad either.

Nice!!! I think I'm going to do this on the baby jeep. I bought some 3.5" re springs. But i could sell those and buy some shackle relocation brackets from ho and have a much better riding setup

For otk sway bar mounts have to be relocated, front of coil buckets need trimmed but you still loose steering radius and a new track bar and mount is needed. The loss of turning radius is what i dislike the most from otk, I have the ruff stuff y link kit.

i dont mind the loss of radius. its easier on the u joints.

It’s pretty annoying putting my jeep behind my house or even pulling into a spot when mall crawling. The first time out wheeling it drove me crazy, trails I could make it through before with no reverse required reverse on every single sharp turn.... it is nice and HD though... I just am not completely happy with it... got my eye out for a teraflex knuckle....

that guy sold the one you wanted out from under me...

but the teraflex knuckle has its inherent problems too, with the poor ackermans and such.

Well have been working on the rear tire carrier the past couple days. Got most of it done but have to cut some off tomorrow as the tire sits to far away from rear window for my liking. Still need to do a latch on it as well.

I actually have it pushed to side quite a bit that you can see pretty good out back window. I prefer to have it on passenger side so that if the wife gets a flat she is off in the grass and not standing in road getting tire off.

Well been a while since I have updated this thread. Jeep really hasn't changed much lately. Did end up picking up a hp Dana 44/9" axle set for it tho. Gonna start slowly building them up to go under it. Also had a buddy give me a set of dana 44's out of a 1976 Jeep j-10 pickup. Gonna use the flat top knuckles and disk brakes off those for axles going under the jeep.

Guess I will be going back out to junk yard here soon. Gonna be a while till they go in so just gonna slowly build them up.
