POWERAID throttle body spacers! DO THEY WORK???

have one siting on the bench in the garage

its been there for 3 months while i try to find the time to put it on and readjust my Cruise Control...

the therory is there - they should help a little - just like (for the older model guys) swaping to the larger new air intake should help too...

but - results have been iffy...

I'm running one on my 91 4.0L and I did notice a little more power especially on highway cruising. Didn't notice any change on gas milage. The theory is there although I don't know if the helical bore is really functional. You might look into some other brands that may be cheaper without the helical bore. The biggest thing is that with a throttle body spacer you may not be able to run a cold air intake due to hood clearance problems so keep that in mind. Also if you don't quite get them seated all the way when installing them they will make a bit of a whistle under acceleration (kind of like a turbo letoff only at the wrong end of the load cycle).

Hope that helps some

I got one for about $20 and decided to try it.....helps a little bit on acceleration. Jury is still out on whether or not it gets better gas mileage.

As was mentioned before I didn't have to modify my cold air intake to get it to fit but could see where that would be a problem.

if you can get it cheap I would go for it but I would probably save up for other stuff....

All my friends seem to talk about is the noise, not any real improvement. The one has spent a decent amount on induction parts (ram air hood, cold air intake, map sensor, Poweraid spacer, etc) and a decent exhaust and wider 18" wheels and taller/wider Kumho tires. He still wasn't much quicker than my XJ (still OE plugs and wires w/ stock replacement air filter, and in need of an oil change)was at the time.

i had one of the turbo city units. it did help smooth out the abruptness off the start with the bored throttlebody out. mile wise i didn't see much improvement. i sold it to a friend after putting an 01 intake manifold on. he feels it is slightly noticable also.
just my 3 cents

Sorry to hijack, but its kind of related. If I put a bored out on throttle body on in addition to the poweraid spacer would it help? I am not sure on the diameter of the poweraid spacer, so if I put a bored out throttle body on would it just cancel out? Hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Even though the bore of the TB spacer is only 56mm, adding a bored TB does help performance so I'd do it. You can always get the spacer bored out as well. You don't need to worry about losing the spiral; it's just a marketing gimmick and the spacer functions just as well without it.
