When someone purposely f's you over, do your best to make sure it will never happen again...tell all.

Running your piehole to trash someones business leaves a hell of a trail, and makes an enemy for life.
There *are* better ways.
HTH.

Above is a photo of what he did after I dropped the tank, after about only a week of driving.
OK, what are you showing here?

The round silver part is the filter / regulator. Did you actually take the pump assembly out of the tank? He may have rebuilt your pump with a $100 kit and charge you $340 for a new OEM pump. That filter / regulator on top is another $100 part in addition to the pump assembly.

Is the new pump noisy? I noticed the Napa kits make a lot of noise when you turn the key as where the OEM pumps don't make much sound.

I'm not saying you didn't get screwed ;)

FS...A Clue...$340.00
Nobody cares. Keep :rattle: about it and you will get slammed for slander by the Eagles and Ketchups of the world. They may even use this thread for evidence. We've all been ripped, some worse than others, GET OVER IT.

I dropped the tank four years ago and replaced the filter element. Because of the design of the locknut, I indexed it before I removed it w/o the factory tool, but with a screwdriver and mallet. This way I wouldn't overtighten it upon reassembly and crack it or strip the thread on the locknut or tank. The index marks I made were still dead on aligned.

I'm friendly with the parts manager at the local Jeep dealer and he said that $340 is the exact cost for an oem pump/regulator, filter, and sender.

Maybe I should have extended my original thread above instead of beginning this new one. I described there that there was no evidence that any of the bolts holding the skidplate or hitch were disturbed. The gas guage is still way off and there wasn't nary a fingerprint or smudge anywhere near the pump assemble. The undercoating on the bolts was pristine. The zipties holding the trailer wiring harness to the hitch were the ones I installed. Nothing was done.

BTW, This thread wasn't about b-ing and moaning about getting screwed. On the contrary, I got 100% of my $ back and he ate the towing. So he came out the loser, not I.

The thread was about finding out from fellow xj owners what would be the righteous action to take to prevent fellow workers from maybe getting screwed over. The level-headed members gave their pov, one way or the other. That's what I asked for and I appreciate that.

All I can ascertain about many of the other posters reminds of the kind of folk that at the end of a day kick the crap out of their dogs just 'cause their day really, really, sucked.

Again, thanks for the thought-ful replies.
