have you found a motor yet? I have a spare 4.0 out of an 87 xj I would be willing to part with, it ran when it came out , but it had a lot of miles. I was planning on rebuilding it and putting it my xj, but I am thinking of going a different route. I want a newer engine with more aluminium and less cast iron!

I have an eager set of hands!

I'll let Jeeper84 lend you a "hand". :spin1: On the other "hand", I have no mechanical skills whatsoever, But, I can pass a wrench or two. Keep me posted.

I bet you'd like that, Mr. "Bikewithnoseat." Whenever you're done sittin'/ridin' maybe Gil will let ya borrow his stroker. My hands are for wrenchin'!

Only the wife and misc ghetto rats are allowed to experience my stroker...

The engine on the other hand...

is not complete yet..

and youve done this ?

When my wifes '01 4.0L went south in her Jeep I got a replacement from a yard. The base price of the motor was $575 and it only had 23K on it. I wound up buying a lifetime (yes lifetime) warranty, the price for the motor with the warranty was $850. The base price includes a 90 day. You can buy 1 year, 2 years, or lifetime. It is a $125 increase for each upgrade in warranty. Anyway, at $575 for a low mileage late model motor I couldn't beat it.

The only bad part of the motor and warranty is their location to you, (Appleton WI). But check out www.car-part.com and do a search in your area. The 4.0 came in Wranglers, Cherokees, and Grands so there are a ton of them out there and many with low miles for cheap.

Depending when and if you do the exchange I may be able to provide some assistance and tools.
