ponies on the cheap!

Two changes I made on my '98 that provided a noticable difference in engine idle, throttle response and gas mileage were replacing the Champion sparkplugs with a set of NGK V-Power sparkplugs and replacing the factory original 1 hole injectors with a set of Bosch 4 hole injectors.....
Engine idle has smoothed out and the gas mileage has increased by 2-3 mpg....

Previously used the Champion Truck Plugs until they discontinued them.
Then I tried the standard Champions and found they didnt perform as well...
The NGK V Powers work very well....

how about if i just get thicker gears and keep my carrier...any locker that's good without a whole carrier? Powertrac? I know nothing about them? Just seen them in quadratec for $300-$400. But they are only for 90-93. What's different about the 35s in a 90-93 vs. my 99? Sorry for all the ? But like I said I'm still learning

You can get an Aussie Locker for about $250 and keep the stock carrier. Best part is that you can install it yourself. Very good street manners too.

I'm running Champion dual platinum plugs.

Single electrode/ground, however both sides are platinum tipped.

The 2000-01 uses a waste spark setup that will eat though normal plugs faster than normal.

Like it sparks right before the intake stroke as well?

In the late models NGK works better.

Interesting. I wonder why. The '98 models have the same ignition system as my '92 and didn't yet have the DIS. I can understand if the NGK plugs work better on the 2000-1 models but what's the explanation for the pre-DIS models?
I've also tried triple-platinum plugs in the past and they weren't any better than the stock Champions performance-wise, but they did last 100k miles though.

why should the NGKs work better on 2000 models?, i heard champion RC9Y ( shorter plug nose ) ,help sollve the chronic ping/ spark knock problem.
