Please Settle This: Gear Ratio For 31's

3.55's are fine with 31's. if you dont wheel often, and do alot of highway driving, dont even both re-gearing.

I am on 3:55 and 31's also and don't have a problem even going uphill. That said I have not been in the Black Hills or Rockies yet since I put the oversize tires on. I figure if I need to shift into 3rd, no big deal. Its not my goal in life to drive 80 MPH in overdrive up the continental divide anyway.

Umm dont tj's come stock with 3.55's 31"tires?Mine drives fine with that combo.You still have 4low.Waste of money. IMO.

The New Rubicon Comes with 4.10s & 32" tires with that 202HP Minivan engine in it & It does fine off road.

My Opinion is that if you do a lot of driving in the Hills (Off road) 4.56s for anything over 31"
If you are going to stay with 31"s (Highly UNlikely, You will get the 32" or 33" bug sooner or later) 4.10S ARE GREAT!
I would feel comfortable running 32"s with no ill effects with 4.10s., I do not like the idea of spinning the 4.0 up too high for too long!
