Hey guys, not sure if this thread exists but I thought I'd start one on paces to wheel or back roads to travel in California and Nevada (Sierra Chapterish area?).

Anyway, I've been itching to get out and I was wondering if anyone has traveled Henness Pass road before? It looks moderately easy but its about 70 miles of back country. It starts by Cabelas in Nevada and you can pop out by Oroville. Any thoughts?

X2.

My roommate and I are planning a trip in the jeep from down here in OC, up to Humboldt, CA to see some old friends. Looking for some nice off-road trails and scenic drives going up there. Redwoods, Tahoe....what are some other really cool places to see??

We will be Leaving Saturday July 2, hoping to return the following weekend. Also, if anyone wants to tag along, let me know.

There's the Oceano dunes near me.. Driving down the coast is nice.

I would look up dog valley in NV & or Reno. It is cool & lots fun back there.

Let us know when you come up, there will be a few Reno guys that will
come out to wheel with you.

Also called Dog Valley road. Iv been on it. Thats where a lot of the snow runs take place.

I'll try to find info on Dog Valley. Is that hard core wheeling or just some back country route? Henness Pass road seems to be pretty easy but finding some new challenging places is great too. Another one I wanted to run was the old Pony Express trail. Its interesting seeing all the old ruins out in the desert and high Sierras.

I did go to Moon Rocks last year, that was cool but I ended up having more fun checking out all the back roads in the desert. I went fishing up at Pyramid Lake and almost got stuck down on the shore in the sand also, lol.

Pony express trail is also cool, Dog valley is a very chill run not hard at all.

I enjoyed Genoa Peak but you'll have to wait for the snow to melt for that one.
