Place to shoot a firearm

Any national forest land, basic common sense laws. Have a good back stop, no shooting from or across roads or bodies of water. At least 50' from road when shooting.

Thanks for that, totally forgot 50' away. Kept thinking 100 yards for some reason. There is a place I usually go to near coulterville but would like to head near Pinecrest for fishing if I have time afterwards.

Like zachandandy said, it's generally ok to shoot on public land... BLM land, specifically. Here's a link from the BLM site that explains all the rules and such:

It looks like you're probably a bit of a distance away from me, but I'd love to put somewhat of a Jeep "run and gun" together if anybody else is interested.

Have fun!

Thanks for the link. I wound up going to near mill creek past Pinecrest and found a clearing off the road and a nice back stop. Shot a friends Mauser 8mm which was pretty cool. Left the 9 at home which sucked but we also used my 7mm mag, his .380 and ruger 22 pistol. Good day all in all. Bad news that morning but getting up there to shoot helped clear my head.

A run and gun would be lots of fun I think.
