Hey guy's I was wondering who was planning on tent camping @ WF, and what brand/ type of tent you are using?

I am in the need to buy a new tent, and want to see what you guys say works, and what does not.

Thanks, and see yall there.

You're that excited about WF already? ;)

The best tent is a hotel room, next best would be a camper with a heater :D

Ron

I know that im that excited for a possible spare seat in chris's rig as might is not going to be able to make it....

but if only there was another open seat for the girlfriend(hint hint) lol

Im starting to get pumped as this could be my first WF!:yelclap::shhh:

Yeah, the el' cheapo WallyWorld jobbies were a big hit last year.:jester:

I have a Coleman 5 person tent my folks got me for christmas, I'll be using that for WF.

Anything is better than one of those walmart tents! I would love a Kelty or a similar Brand but I would rather have Jeep parts and those things can cost well over $300.

how cold did it get last year... or normally... (i heard last year it was nice and warm.. Better be this year too!

Did anyone get cold/use a heater.... (i was raised in WI and know what cold is.. so dont think that im not ok with camping in the 40's or colder have before in a tent with only a small blanket...)

Ive had the same little walmart tent for about 6 yrs it cost me 30 bucks back then i think it was one up from the cheapest, if i go by my self camping i will be using that but i do have a nice tent i got from cabellas over the summer for when we go as a family

my sierra designs one person tent has seen a few winterfests and served me well.

cheers,

jj

ive been in my tent sub zero temps and its not fun. i had my thermarest pad, northface bag w/ a liner and plenty of hand warmers.

cheers,

the REI brand tents are sweet and reasonably priced.

I honestly think my small one is a wall mart special but it has served me well and i've had it in inches of standing water and no leaks

I have used my walmart tent with a electric heater down in the teens. i was warm but if the wind picks up the warmth will diminish. The ratings for tents are way off in relations to how many can fit.rated for 3 man tent = 1 small adult will fit from corner to corner.....

really, for this use any tent will do. its the sleeping bag that matters. unless its snowing.

i use a coleman -30, and have a custom polar fleece liner, and 3 st. bernards when i go arctic camping. 2 are trained in rescue. hell, id sleep outside just my sleeping bag

anything above 40 degree I usually don't use a heater.

below that i have a heater or two that i use.

we have a wally world tent that will hold three queen mattresses (can't recall the dimensions (cost about $140)...we use a double stack queen mattress. the sleeping bags are only rated for 40*...i'm hoping to replace them with some 20* before winterfest...i've had some wally world tents that have lasted 5 years and some that haven't lasted two trips...i have one tent from sears that's a single person (well says 2 to 3, but seriously) that's over 10 years old that still works great.

we tent camped 12 times last year everywhere from the badlands to tenn to colorado...

all that said, i want a truck camper, but haven't found the one i want for the right price.

mac 'soooooo we'll keep on tenting' gyvr

Walmart waterproof tents are not waterproof.

Even there Coleman brand leak. Make sure if you have a walmart tent you bring a TARP to cover it. And you will need something to secure the tarp since WF is WINDY.

I don't want to do a tent again but havnt found a suitable camper yet.

If you camp spend the extra money and get ya a good tent.
