Pissed at work? Vent here

Yeah, I'm pissed at work. I manage a bunch of people who don't want to work but make huge money for what they do. I'm pissed that they just dont get it and there are people out there that make a fifth of their salary and work 5 times a much without complaining.

Grumpy is an understatement!
Like I said, I do my 48+ hours in a 72 hour period. This is what you look like after not getting enough sleep the prior day and getting up at 2:00 am to go to work.

My schedule is 'erratic' at best.

Oh, and by the way, I LOVE my job!

Work ethic / Employment ethic?

I've spent many years managing parts store employees. The vast majority of them simply wanted to show up a few minutes late, leave a few minutes early, stretch the breaks as far as possible and hide on the phone when they could. There were a few total stand outs who wanted to learn the job and hoped to advance to a position where all the learning was useless as they no longer sold parts but managed people instead. Through out my working years I have always showed up excessively early worked harder than the other guys and ended up getting the promotions to match. The last two jobs taught me a BIG life lesson: Just because you have a good work ethic it doesn't mean the company has a good employment ethic.
I watched one employeer disregard the physical safety of a group of employees simply to save a couple bucks and another falsely accuse employees of theft when he was the one sliding the parts out the back door as paybacks for his other ventures.
These days one of the best protections is a Human Resources department. Not my favorite thing to have to say as they protect those who nedd to be gotten rid of just as often as those who deserve the protection...

BTW: I am currently employed in a great job that requires extra efforts, extended hours, pays comission only, and expects me to get the job done or get myself out. And best of all I no longer have to manage employees, just customers. My only real complaint is the commute of 23 miles taking an hour.

Well, I got a new job. Wasn't really looking, it just kinda fell into my lap. I know a guy who works for the company and he offered it to me. I start April 1. They wanted me sooner, but I don't believe in leaving without 2 weeks notice unless there's absolutely no choice. I put in my notice, and they said they wish they could match the pay, but since its nearly double my current salary, they can't. I liked this job overall, but the double speak was irritating. They'd promise one thing and give another. And apparently I'm not the only one to notice. This new job sounds like it'll be an actual career, get involved in it, get good, and be able to find another high paying job should the government let their contract run out. It has decent hours, 7-3 M-F and gets me back on base again. Now we'll see what I come up with to complain about there...:D j/k

I have a buddy that is working to become a full fledged engineer in Alaska I guess he is doing his apprenticeship or whatever it's called, been there 3 years I think. He works crazy hours too...and he loves his job too.

Don't sweat it, moment will always govern the design in the real world.

Which reminds me, I have to go back to work again today to finish the load design on 85 steel transmission structures...... After long hours doing the same thing all week.
