I am planning a trip to PISMO with a friend and wonted to know if my xj would be ok in sand how good are xjs in sand I have a 1999. Xj 4.5 lift 31 mts would I be ok if I air down or do I need lockers ?

air down to 10-15 psi you should be fine unless you run into some really soft stuff. most of pismo is pretty dense sand though, I wouldn't worry about it. don't go out without a buddy.

enter and leave at low tide... stay the hell out of the water if you want your jeep to last more than 3 years the saltwater will rust EVERYTHING.

I live in the area, so let me know when you are planning on being here and I'll try to meet up. A stock heep does just fine. So should yours. I need to take mine out soon anyways, since I got my MTR-k's.

You will be fine. I camped there, towing my travel trailer behind the jeep.

I just kind of tooled around in the dunes, my rig isn't really set up for high speed sand, but I only got stuck a couple times when I stopped in a dumb spot. Pop it in 4 low and crawl right out, unless your on a hill, in which case crawl back down and try again.

Pismo is easy, can do it in 2wd. Just keep your speed up, don't stop facing up hill. Oh, bring a strap and a shovel just in case. I never used to air my 31 10.5s down, but my 33s I aired down to 8-10 psi and I never had an issue.

Hit the quarter carwash on the way out and rinse off everything you can...rust sucks mmmkay.

If you're coming to party then that's the weekend to go. The area gets packed, comp hill has a huge party at night, the drags get set up with tons of people, normally someone brings some kind of landplane to smooth the strip. It is a fun weekend, unless you Arnt into any of that. If that's the case come the weekend after. Peaceful, towns back to normal, less police patrol.

Never been to Pismo but we want to take a trip to check it out. wife and 2 kids under 4 are there places you can rent a rail or jeep or something to play on. Long trip from Tucson so we will probably just drive the tacoma out.

Ah, so you'll be there?

:eyes:

PS - Do I owe you two bags of ice or did my dad settle up with you?
How'd you know ?!
You can get me some ice next time (=
There are buggy/quad rental places just before the beach

They also have them available ON the beach as well.

For the cheaper place, I had to go back to the office.
JW: since geoff is bringing ice for you next time, you can get the train passes next time.
