Has anyone ever been to the Pismo Beach Sand Dunes? It is like 5 hours from here, right? Is it fun? Do you have to pay to get in? Are there rangers out there? Can i camp on the beach if i want? Tell me something about it if you know about it? Fires on the beach? :us:

Yes. If traffic is moving good. Yes. Yes. At the gates, and also at the beach ready to give speeding tickets. Yes. Make sure you have a buddy to tow you out (tow prices are expensive), carry a good shovel (tow prices are expensive), watch out for razor backs, if you want to rent ATV get it at the beach. Not sure, but ain't no facilities at the beach.

you also need a flag if you are planing on taking your jeep into the dunes. Pretty much just watch out, they'll ticket you for anything up there. Most groups up there are looking for any reason at all to close the area so they take it out on people who go venture there to have a weekend.

As for the tow prices, VERY expensive. Make sure you have another capable rig out there to tow you out.

Take a flag, sleep in jeep, bring your own tow buddy, eat in town, fire on beach, $10 a night (I Think), Air down to 10psi, watch for razors from on shore breeze, don't speed on beach, stay away from closures, speed in the dunes, HAVE FUN!

You might be going though, right!

speaking of eating in town, give Giuseppe's Italian food a shot. They are about a grub as it gets down there. Tasty ass stuff. There also is a pretty good clam chowder joint down there just a few streets over, but i cant remember the name.

If you want to drive up to SLO, its just 3 miles up the highway. There are plenty of good places to eat. First spot i'd hit is Firestone Grill in downtown, then maybe Woodstocks Pizza, then Royal Thai, but thats up off of foothill blvd. You can stop a Cork and Bottle off of foothill to if you wanna get a burger in a likker store.

Thats the rundown of the good places to eat up there. There IS a secret steak house up there too, but i'm not giving out any info ;)
