Pine Barrens NJ Cleanup 10/28/07

Bump here for a worthy cause...

I'm hoping to be there for this one (barring an as-yet unanticipated scheduling conflict).

Which reminds me, I should probably email the organizer...

It was a good time when I did this three yrs ago. Its a cool group and some cool rides show up. I liked the Sammys on 33's
I would love to make it this year but I got lots of things going on. Plus the XJ is not back together yet.
Maybe next year

I would like to take part in this and I wanted to know from a couple of things from people who have done this in the past.

1) I don't own a trailer or a pick up, and I will be bringing my XJ. Is there a need for just man power or will I have to fill my XJ up with garbage?

2) Do we bring our own supplies (bags, etc., etc.) or does somebody supply them?

3) Is it the more the merrier? We are trying to get a group of us on base to make it down for this event. If I have a jeep full of people where do I put the trash we pick up?

4) Is there any type of cost or donation associated with this event?

Sorry if these seem like dumb questions but I have never taken part in this event before and I want to be as much help as possible and come prepared to clean things up. Thanks in advance for the info!!

Carman

Sorry Carman...I didn't pay attention to my own post.
There is a need for man power. The organizers will pair up "helpers" & haulers". Just tell them that you cannot carry trash.

Bags will be supplied, of course, if you brought your own, it might save some line standing, etc. In the past, they even supplied gloves. I always brought my own bags & gloves so I can't accrtaely answer.

It is more the merrier. Everyone is welcome & encouraged to lend a hand. (And appreciated)

There is no cost or donation, I would advise you to email the organizers (see my original post for link) and tell them you are planning to attend. There's a party at a local restaraunt afterwards (with free wings) so it would be respectful to give the organizers a person count.

Your questions are by no means dumb. I appreciate you asking. I look forward to a great turnout for a fantastic event. This is truly a way to "give back" and it does an awesome job of showing our hobby in a "good light".

I've ran similar trips for the past 20 years & always made it a point to advise/include the State Forest Rangers. Six Months later, when they pass you on the trail, they stop, wave Hello & say "Hey, you're the president of that 4x4 club that came out and cleaned up the trash....thanks again".

I hope you have a good time Carman :peace:

Thanks for the info MuckSavage!! Like I said we would like to take part in this, the only thing that could get in the way is we have a scheduled power outage on base on the 27th. Lucky me I'm the base Officer Of the Day for this evolution. If all goes well I will be relieved at 0700 and should be able to make the 1 1/2 trip with time to spare, if all goes well that is!! Wish me luck! I hope to see everyone there!!!

Carman

Hope to see you there, Carman - I expect to be rolling in between 0800-0830 ("to be early is to be on time", as my college music professor used to say).

I'll be running a dark red '92 Laredo with grey trim that looks like this:

If you spot me, tap me on the shoulder and say hello.

Well, things seemed to go well - I certainly had a good time, and saw a couple of familiar faces (PartsXJ, TightTrailXJ).

I'll try to get a couple pics posted soon.
