I need a driveshaft shortened and balanced, anyone have experience with a local shop?

There is a plce up in Vancouver Wa that can do drivelines...

Lou's I-5 driveline and machine shop.....

I picked up a shft for a client of the parts store when I was living there. They do good work, give them a try....

I strongly recommand six states on columbia blvd. the driveline shop manager there is as nice as they get and will go out of the way for ya. NOt always cheapest but great quality.
I live right by lou's and my dad lives by him but when i went there to talk about some stuff i needed he was real rude and brushed me off, i think its cuz im only 21 and that happens sometimes at my age.

x's 2 ! great quality and service. nice bunch guys too. they'll take good care of you.....but they are a bit spendy.

example: they can shorten / lengthen a shaft for about the same price as a new woody.

i also highly recommend them for gears and lockers. have had 2 experiences with them on those and never one had an issue other than a leaky seal one time which they fixed for very cheap since it was there labot but a possible "abuse on the trail issue"

put a call in to a buddy that restores old mopars, he agreed on six states being the place to go, he said that they shortened, balanced, and put new u joints in for $100.

drifeshaft is at six states now. $80 for the short and balance, u joints are $10-$25 each if it needs them (i dont think it will)

the drivelinetech place sounded real good over the phone, but they are about $20 more expensive at $100 for the short and balance and $140 with new spicer joints.

i just got my rear cut down and rear balanced for $90.

just remember you get what you pay for. cheaper is not always better. driveline tech stands by there work not matter what. every one i wheel with uses driveline tech and we are all every happy

Good choice.. I've had many years of great service with them. And I've recommended others who now exclusively use them too. You can deal with any of the guys they are all great. I usually deal with Ken in the shop, he's a hunter like me, he did a lot of custom driveshaft work for me when I had my 78'Bronco... Again not the cheapest, but you truly get what you pay for here. Worth every dime.
I also use them for some parts too.

Just got it back today, Ken is a really great guy and sure got a big smile when I said that my jeep club reccomended him personally, said send ya'll in with your driveshaft woes!

damage was $75 for the short and balance and $13 for one new spicer joint.
