PB blaster is overrated

Ive been meaning to get a torch, what is the best kind for this sorta use? Are those butane torches like in the plumbing section the way to go?

Butane torches and Mapp gas torches aren't bad but they will take a lot longer. At home I have an Acetylene turbo torch setup and it will get the job done. Oxy-map or Oxy-Acetylene with a welding/brazing tip would be the way to go.

side note: Locktite breaks down at about 500* (iirc) and a small plumbers will be very useful in that situation.

Nothing beats building your truck using neverseize on everything though... but yeah I feel all your guys' pain when it comes to getting a truck from somewhere that hasn't been built/lifted yet....

I've used Kroil, PB blaster and Liquid wrench, they get the job done.

This stuff is my current favorite. It penetrates/creeps like crazy. Its also one of the best cutting oils I have ever used.

I use PB and when that does not work I have had good luck with heat and some Gulf Perifin was... You only have to heat the part up enough to get the wax to melt.

It wicks up very quickly into the crud.

Poor mans penetrating oil, one part used Dexron and one part acetone. Actually works just about as well as anything else.
I have some German stuff made by Loc Tite (Henzel). Mildly acidic penetrating oil, that does a decent job of melting loose rust and seems to penetrate better than most.

if you are able to heat the PB with a MAPP gas torch to the point where it enters its vapor state the increased pressure will force it to pentrate deeper...

Is that the stuff that contains mostly nitro?

It's nitro and castor oil.

We use Kroil and PB. Both work great in my experience, but PB is stocked in more stores.

Tighten the bolt ( a little half turn or more. Then spray bolt ) Then take it off.. That was easy.. Been working on cars an chit for 40 years, found this to work good.. Hope it helps

PB seems to help unstick some stuff, but my favorite use for it is parts cleaner. It makes rusty greasy bolts like new.

I haven't run across Kroil yet. I was brought up on wd-40(I love the sweet smell) and it wasn't until a few years ago that I found out about PB and haven't used wd since. I'm sure there is better stuff out there, but most won't be disappointed with PB's assistance.

i was brought up on the wd40 method. many of my coworkers use it as well. they all look at me wierd when i tell them that the wd40 sucks at getting bolts out of pipe flanges that have been in the ground for a "few" years (decades). i have managed to convert some over- mostly guys who work on their vehicles too.

im pretty skeptical about pb blaster too but i use it...

i usually piss on my bolts and it breaks the rust off
