Party, party, party, "let them eat cake"

Why does it matter that they eat fancy food?
...

It doesn't.

Living in the land of over priced so-called trendy resturants I learned to not get whacked out over adjective laden menus. There is one down the street that posts it's weekly changing menu in a specially built case outside the front door. At the bottom it states "cold filtered Hetch-Hetchy water -no charge"...Hetch-Hetchy is the source for tap water in San Francisco. These numb skulls think they are getting something special.

One other thing, when the wife and I throw a party rarely does anyone back out. The bride serves plain and simple American food like these folks grew up on, not the fancy stuff from Bon Apetite Magazine. The guest will bring over a couple of six packs of this or that microbrew but without fail my Miller MGDs will be all gone.

The French queen was Marie Antoinette. She was charged with treason and died in the guillotine in 1793 during the height of the French Revolution.

Historically the 'cake' she is reffering to resembles nothing like the Betty Crocker cakes of today. To heat up the old brick ovens the fire was built directly in the cooking chamber. When the bricks reached suffiecent tempature the fire and embers were raked out. Cinders and ash would remain as a residue. A poor quality dough, (missing yeast maybe?) would be rolled around in the chamber to pick up the remaining ash & cinders prior to the cooking of the main meal for the head of the house. The heat of the bricks would cook this cinder and ash laden dough and it was termed "cake".

In the 18th century there were plenty of people living at bare subsistence level. 'Cake' was one source of food for this class of people, slave, pheasant or servant. It wasn't just in France, I learned this tidbit about cake while on tour of a colonial home in MA.

I'm not gonna touch this, but anyone wanna predict the menu at the Inauguration Ball? Or any other dinner Obama hosts.....?

:D

:anon:

How about, Hog knees, one eyed peas a mess a grits and 30wt gravy please?

But seriously I suspect it will be GREEN!
.

.
Environmentally green that is!

ahh, I get it...

It was one of those hey look at them eating good, lets guilt them into giving us their food instead of working hard and getting our own food...

Good Joke, hahahaha

:shhh::looney:

Actually I was looking at the up side of it, that they were being diligent about using tax payer money to stimulate the economy by spending money with the top caterers.

Very interesting.

You wouldn't expect a lesser inauguration for the most merciful "Messiah" now would you?
You are obviously a racist for bringing that story up.:laugh3:
I'm not racist. I just hate socialists,....

and hypocrites.

(You do realize I've been waiting 2 months to add that post, right? :D)

Yes, I know. The Dems and the media forgot how much they bitched when Pres. Bush spent $50 mil. on his.

Everbody wants a piece of the pie, oops, I mean cake. The question is can we have our cake, and eat it too?

How many of you even now what quinoa is?

I love the stuff, we just purchased 50lbs of it for storage, because the health food stores charge too much, imo.

My wife makes up a batch with finely diced tomatoes and onion in it, which can be eaten solo, or makes a great side dish with poulty or seafood.....even good served with beef.

It's loaded with protein, one of the most complete, healthy grains (actually a seed) available.

More here...... http://www.chetday.com/quinoa.html

Anyone can have cake and eat it.......the real question is, can you eat cake, and still have it?

Yes, you can eat the cake; then you will have it in your stomach.:moon:

Give me a fwkin break! I had roasted rack of lamb, fruitwood-smoked quail and a chanterelle-jussed tomato, fennel and eggplant fondue last night!
Big deal. I'm not sharing!!!

I eat a poterhouse every Friday. Doesn't mean I'm gona invite the screwballs next door over for a bite!

Gawd damn democrats...

No, you have poop.

If you have poop in your stomach you should either reexamine your definition of edible or you have some sort of medical problem.
:puke:
