PARAGON AP to be closed

NAXJA and all the other user groups have to pressure the government to expropriate paragon and keep it as public property for everyone to enjoy....If you had some politicians with guts, getting the state to buy it for what 30million is a drop in the budget.

Thats what I would do if I was a state offical

Unfortunately, the county government hearing the case is friends with the guy who owns the company trying to buy the land, and the lawyer is also the county chief court clerk.

F that.

HA isn't that Ilegal? conflict of interest I would suggest. Some NAXJA members should run a campaign and run for Govenor and then shake the house up a bit!

Hey its only 30million and the US's worth is what around 10-11 Trillion Dollars? I say expropreate!!!!!!!!!! Here in the NWT you can't own land out of the city, so its 100% Commissioners Land that is used and enjoyed by all, not just the ones with the big $$$

Great, and ever since the control of the UAW has been prominent over the big 3, they've lost money. Ford reported record losses of $17.8 billion this year due primarily to quality control and health care/pensions, all directly a function of union labor costs. But I digress...

This is interesting though.

Phillip Seltzer, mentioned in that article as one of the original owners of the land that estate was going to be on (which is right in the vicinity of Humboldt Industrial Park), is also listed as the current owner of Butler Enterprises, which partly owns the land Paragon is on.

Relevance? None. But I guess that area and company is no stranger to shady deals...

edit: and the whole history, for anyone who is in the Friday Night Loser's Club.

edit again: apparently Conahan isn't supposed to be the judge anymore?

This whole shitstorm just gets more complicated the more you search on it. And of course all those linked articles about Powell and Conahan don't come up anymore. I feel like this is a bad mystery/suspense novel with some sort of undercover coverup going on.

Strangely enough...I've got my own set of political views etc...but this is really the first issue that's really inspired me to do something. And goddamn if I know what there is to do at this point. The thing that sucks most about this is all I've got is my stupid google search engine and the internet. If there was ever an issue I wanted to do something about this is it, and I've got nothing. All the political crap going on here....maybe the media will pick it up even more and start spreading it. This shit has been going on in that area for decades, even before Paragon was even around, and it's a fucking shame they have to be in the middle of it.

I respect your opinions on organized labour, but you can see in the end what people will do when they are pushed or feel pushed around, money talks, and in the end its just the bottom line that counts for coporations, nothing else.

I am part of an organization called OMVOC - The Ontario Modified Vehicle Owners Council, while we have our own set of issues here throughout Canada our main focus is to keep all automotive sports alive including land issues for 4X4 Recreation. We lobby the Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels of Government on a regular basis.

Maybe forming a organization such as ours will do some good and give you some medial attention. Maybe forming a non profit group that would make recommendations to the State Government can have some positive effect. With numbers you can become a powerful group that can at the end of the day kick the people in power out of the Legislator, remember election day is the only time we can overpower them and with an organized unit this can be done.

just to let you all know, the new so call fair judge rulled against Paragon Park and in favor for the new airport.

It's official. Paragon is done Monday. :( Saturday they are having the last monthly run. The end of an era. I don't know what to say.

Here is my organizations final attempt to help you guys out, I sent this to the local state officals:

February 1st 2007

Rep. Todd Eachus,

OMVOC – The Ontario Modified Vehicle Owners Council wish to express our deep concern regarding the closure of the Paragon Adventure Park in your State. We at OMVOC strive to preserve and improve our special interests such as Off Roading with the Community in which we work and live in.

OMOVC is a non-profit organization with Chapters in Ontario and the Northwest Territories. OMVOC is committed in growing and branching out in to all parts of Canada. Since OMVOC was created in 2006, we are in the grass route stages of growth. Our determination and willingness to learn and take part in government processes are just some of the goals we wish to accomplish as a responsible organization.

Our email to you is to let you know that we hope that the process with regards with Paragon Adventure Park is taking a fair and just path for all parties involved. OMVOC would like to support our members who use this Park for recreational and hobby purposes. As the high hopes for one of America’s favorite places of enjoyment fades, OMVOC feels a great sadness that Paragon Adventure Park will not be here for future generations to come. In America, you are fortunate that most of your people have not only the blessings of liberty but also the means to live full and abundant lives. You must press on, however, toward a goal of not only more and better jobs but of full opportunity for every American and of what they are striving so hard for right now - to achieve, prosperity and a reason to go to work and live. By following through on the actions that are currently being taken without input from the other multiple stakeholders is not serving the community in a supportive manner.
The best quality a person who serves in office can have is a very personal sense of kinship with each and every citizen, and to fully understand what makes a county great. As the days pass, we hope that you realize that this decision will have a great negative impact, not only with the people in your home state, but to all who drive all over North America to enjoy what Paragon has to offer.

Thank-you for your time in this matter and OMVOC hopes that you reconsider your decision with regards to Paragon Adventure Park.

Yours truly,
Jeffery J. Corradetti
President of the Ontario Modified Vehicle Owners Council

I am trying hard to be optimistic that it isnt over yet, I am sure that the landlords had no expectation that they would get this response, I'm also sure that Todd Eachus is probably buried in email and snail mail by this, also, I saw this poll in a local paper's website, vote , if you havent already.....and pass around the link wherever you can.
