Painting your jeep

Has anyone (with no experience, like me) attempted to paint their jeep?

How did you do it? How did it turn out (pics)? I've seen Eric's Xj (nice)

I'm looking to go a flat color. Thought about rattle can, but i don't want any stripes from over or under spraying certain areas.
Any advice would be great and no I can't afford to take it to a painter.
