anybody ever have the outer pinion bear go? i got a noise from underneath that def sounds like a bad bearing. i was looking at the front drive shaft and noticed it had some play where the shaft goes into the pumpkin. by play i mean i could push up and down, left and right. so befor i spend the money for the parts let me know what you think. also if anybody knows what size socket i need for the pinion nut that would be helpful.

thanks in advance

yep, mine went, but I have a HP 30, and you have a LP 30 so I'm not much help.

Mine caused a driveline vibe, and had the same symptoms as you, lateral play in the yoke.

Your LP D30 uses a crush sleeve I believe, you may need a new one, you'll also need a stout impact wrench to crush it and set the proper bearing preload. Go slow, or you'll over crush it and have to start over, with a new sleeve.

you know, go figure evrybody has the bearing but nobody has the oil seals... guess i'm gonna have to take a trip to the dealer.

Why dont you get an o/h kit, you are already in there, might as well replace all the bearings, and it comes with a seal.

Partsamerica.com-- seal 15791 assuming yours was built before 10/01/00.

this is an SKS number and it may cross to a BCA number that your local Advance has in stock, but I am not at work to check.....yet
