Approximately 60 lbs more than it would have had Cracks spent a few more $$$ & upgraded to unit bearings:spin1:

P

Actually it is 32# different between unit bearings and spindles and I think the way I went was more $$$ ;)

At this rate you should be able to get it on the trail sometime before the end of the decade!!
:D

Rick

Overall work that needs to be done is finish assembling the axle, remove current steering box and mount/install Orbital valve, fabricate new trackbar bracket for frame rail, place axle under junk and cycle through suspension, finish track bar and UCA, and mount tires. I am hoping two weekends should do it :dunno:

So you WILL be at the SoCalXJ Jambo?
With you Heep?

Full hydro? Just wondering, whats the legality of that? Not that it matter much on a trailer queen ;)

I looked over your welds very closely. Its apparent that you didnt actually weld this together. Its all machined from billet and you just cut chevrons into the joints to make it look like welding. Dont try and trick us. No one is that good with a TIG, MIG or Stick.

BTW, Jo is calling Mai on Sunday to clue her in to what is going on here (as a friend I am doing what I can to help you out, at great personal risk). However if you ship those axles to zip code 22101 there will be no evidence of your debauchery and you will achieve plausible deniabilty.

no the only billet in his entire "top of the line" axle is in the ujoint....

though the axles were splined on equipmment that works on 300m, heat treated, and cryroed along with other 300m stuff they are unfortunately only 4340....... mabey they were strengthened just being in the presence of 300m........nah.

have fun on 42s..............you saw the carnage list for the FOH trail.......

I breath enough billet dust a day that my poo sparkles metallic.

so I guess I can say my shits stronger than your axle. ]

Made progress :D

Here it is sitting about 5 inches too high (no coils and on jackstands)

Here it is 'bottomed out' on the shocks. I am hoping to clearance this (later) and lower the XJ atleast an inch or maybe more to lower the COG a tad.

Seems to clear LCAs and only touched a tiny bit when stuffed/turning. I will have to 'clearance' it a little to make it 'perfect' but were only looking at a tiny bit to make it right.

Orbital Valve is installed

Special pic for Paul. I would recommend a tad longer (maybe 7") arm to give a little more room for the track bar between the ram and UCA bracket. Mine works but a little extra 'breathing' room could be nice. With these 6.5" arms I have 6" of side to side travel. My ram is an 8" ram so it'll need to be shimmed down to 6".

Also started working on the rear three link.

Doh you never let on to this portion did ya?

3 link = 2 trailing arms and a track bar? or 2 lowers and a upper or?

Looks great!

Looks like a rear trailing arm for a desert truck to me. I can't even see you putting that thing on.

They are amazing works of art. This is what Troy builds at work. We figured we might as well post it up for the response(s). :D
