Dude.... that's an interesting muffler!

It's not that special, Mr. Bubble has been around for years. BTW, there's an emissions/fuel thread that won't die on NonTech. Why don't you take it on over there?

Dan, I guess I was tired :dunno: when I typed that

I did test the bump stops a little and had to shorten them by about an inch last night. It is actualy pretty easy. I stuck the sawzall between the coils and trimmed them a little. Then pryed out the cut off piece. It worked out pretty well. I got the TC skid back on and I also had to replace a hose for my heater coil since there was a pin hole leak in it (it was only 6 months old!).

Tonight I will be at the OC M&G.

Due to popular interest, I am posting a short message from Lincoln with the dtails of the bump stops I am using. Again, thanks to Lincoln for all his help.

If you search hard (really hard) you might find all my old info. I used a prothane coil insert made for Ford prerunners. I ordered the 10" long versions thinking I would cut them down, but 35's the tire just gets into the upper fender on a hard compression so I've left them alone.

I removed the stock bump stop and bolted on a piece of 3/8" steel. There is a hole in the insert just about the same size as the tower and without the plate it will ram down through it.

The are made to be a progressive bump and they work well for that. Mine contact after about 3" of up then I get another 2 or 2.5 until they stop on my setup.

Not cheap though. I think I paid around $70 for the pair from www.bajaconcepts.com. I would bet any desert shop would have them though. I like them and would use them again. If you have a small tower in the coil already (mine are stock 70's Ford mounts) you could probably get the shorter stacks and they would also be less progressive. I would buy long ones and cut them down until you get the travel you like.

Click on the "coil inserts" link.

And here is a repost of the plates I installed:

Since most of the parts have been installed, it is time to protect my wife, myself and my XJ from my poor driving skills. My buddy and I worked on the overall cage design. More pics are posted in Ad Fab but here is a preview.

Makes me think of some sort of an urban assault vehicle A-Team style ;) All it needs is some steel plating for the windows with viewing slots cut out :D

I have been contemplating the design(s) in my head over and over trying to think 'how to do it better' with what I want.

Also been gathering parts for the big weekend.

eBay is where all the money comes from. You can't make any decent money in the bike business.

This month, I have to sell a 2004 BMW M3 with 13,000 miles on it and a bunch of expensive bicycles. It pays real well doing it. Finding the stuff to sell is easy but finding the time to sell it is the only problem.

I actually have one of these sitting in my garage. I got a heckuva deal on it last year. I need to figure out how and where to put it. I am thinking of mounting ut on a winch plate and fitting it into my receiver(making it portable)or making some kind of cradle for it. I don't want t permenantly mount it anywhere. I also have a small air tank for it.

Once I get ready to use it, I will ask for advice, but for know it's just sitting there.

No. She's got a 2006 Accord I have put 1500 miles on in the last two weeks  (cheaper to drive)

Oh yeah.... that one will be the really tough one. I think we need to make sure that there are at least 4 people available to help you with it. The way it's going to have to happen is

4 of us are going to be drinking beer offering advice and pointing out things that need to be still done while you're going to be wrenching on it ;)

Dang cracker, what did you do, Win the Lotto ??? Looking at your parts list you either hit it good, broke the bank or both. Was that your truck on the Trailer in the back of Ron's shop Sat night? If so, it's looking good.
