One of them hybrid cage builds (lots of pics)

Now that we're done, Kalil wants to build more jeep cages. If you're in SoCal and you want to do something similar, let me know.

He is an awesome guy to work with. He's professional, meticulous, intelligent and reasonable. I had a great time assisting him as he built my cage, but he did all of the measuring, cutting, bending, notching and welding. I told him exactly how I wanted it designed and he did the rest.

Thanks buddy!

nicely done, do you have any plans for the rear-most section? it is essentially unsupported back there. my guess is you couldnt find a design you liked and left it as-is for now. if you ever really bash it it will get tweaked, but the reality is you could cut it off and put a new one on with slugs and be done with it. though it's not a critical area, it looks a bit "unfinished", i'd just hate to waste his 1-piece hoop and have to splice something on there. i suppose tying it to the drip rail will protect it from the small bumps and dings, and a hard rollover will present more issues than just that small area.
also, it really helps having a friend with talent like that.
again, nicely done.

I'm still considering running a D pillar up to the rear of the roof. A lot of the designs that I looked at used either the C or D pillar, but not both. I agree that a big hit to the roofline at the rear hatch could cause some damage.

Looks awesome! I wish I could afford to start over with another body and apply what I have learned over the years and make it look pretty this time. I would definitely design my roll cage similar to this design.

Jealous.

Could run a tube down the outside of the jeep to the rear bumper, right at the hatch/body junction. It would protect the hatch from side shots and also support the rear of the cage. Would sorta match the front a-pillar tube as well.
