ok... which end goes where?

Using adjustable lower control arms with flex joints... which end goes toward the frame and which end goes toward the axle?

After reading other threads and using google, I'm starting to second guess myself. What's the correct way to install?

usually the end closest to the adjuster goes near the body

Mine are RC adjustables, XFlex joints. I've got the joint on the axle end which is the adjustable end.

looking on RC's site at a pic the uppers only fit one way and the adjustable end is on the body side, so i would assume the same for the lower


edit: well this is confusing, heres their instructions from their site http://www.roughcountry.com/install/1696.pdf

go to photo 5 and 6 and see how they installed it (flex joints at the body side), now look at photo 7 and its backwards ? idk

lower flex joints are always on axle cuz thats whats going to need it during flex..
i always refer to RE's instructions:
like for the TJ RE lift.. page2

yeah but these are RC and the instructions say different, besides if you look at the uppers for RC, the flex joint is only on the body side of the arm

thats because of the design of there lower arms. they are fixed and are indexed for the flex joint to be mounted on the axle side. there adjustable radius arm has the flex joint on the frame end.


the RC and rustys and any other adjustable lower has the adj joint side on the frame end.

thats because you cant put a flex joint on the axle side of an upper control arm. so they put it on the frame end with the adjustable side.

you can get replacement flex joint upper control arm bushings in place of your stock rubber ones.

photo 7 is only reffering to the caster adjustment bolts. the arm in the picture is there older lower control arm that came with the 4" lift. it had poly bushings on each end.

funny thing is in photo 5 and 6 they are from a tj.(doesnt really matter)

In all honesty, it really doesn't matter which way you have them... as long as they are both the same way.
