And I got the stick on display protector as well. With all the crawlin' around on the ground under jeeps that I do, I knew it was gonna need protection. Ya shoulda seen my old phone...........

I had that case when I first got my droid, I broke it in less than a month.

Get yourself an otterbox case too http://www.otterbox.com/motorola-cases/droid-by-motorola-cases/ this thing has saved my blackberry countless times. Well worth the $50 or so that is costs.

OtterBox FTW!

Ok, now that I've had this phone for a couple weeks-ish.....

I'm pretty disappointed in the actual quality of the PHONE feature.

All I ever hear is "What?" or "Hello - you still there?" when I'm trying to talk to someone. I have to mash the phone against my face before people can hear me saying anything and even then........ they say the clarity is, well not clear at all. Sounds like I'm across the room with a loud waterfall near by. When my Wife calls me on her Droid, I totally hear it like they do. Sounds like shit.

Anyone know if they've got a fix for that?

Ok, after more "surfing" this poor call quality subject, I found a few things to try:

-Access the hidden menu and changed settings from EVRC to EVRC -B
-Turning Voice Privacy feature to "off"
-Check the phone protective case to see if it's covering the 2nd noise filtering microphone.

So, I've set it to EVRC -B, Turned Voice Privacy to "off" and I drilled a hole in my plastic cover to uncover this 2nd microphone.

Fingers crossed.........

Odd. I picked up an A855 Droid several weeks and call quality is good to very good.

Look into the "Scanner Radio" app.

Never had issues with my Motto Droid. It has better call quality than my Blackberry did. Maybe you got a bad mic?

Actually, this problem is all over the Motorola and Droid forums....... Tons of folks bitchin' about how cool the phone is...... except the phone function.

We're going back to Verizon Friday - if they can't come up with a perfect solution...... they'll be getting these droids back.

So far, the changes I made only seem to have enhanced the problem. I got hung up on twice because folks couldn't hear me or thought I'd dropped the call.

You'd think a company like Motorola would be on top of this issue, but they've made absolutely NO changes to this version of phone over the last year.

Hmm....I read about a few of the issues. Seems like with most if the program didnt help they were bad mics. Who knows!

Found another cool app.
Knocking Live video.

Knocking is great! I have a few friends who have iphones and it works between both platforms... pretty cool stuff!

Sorry to hear about your call quality problems! I havnt had that issue and I have been on the Droid since December... I looked into it for a bit and it seems to be a pretty recent issue with these!

I have had my Droid since the day they came out and I don't have any phone call issues.

I'm thinking user error! LOL

WTF is a 'rooted' droid?

Edit: Ok, so rooting seems a bit dangerous to the processor and operating system to a degree. And from what I read, it consumes a bit more battery. Some have reported overheating issues too.......

I don't think I'll mess with that. I imagine it'd affect the warranty as well.

Probably won't still have a Droid after Friday anyway. If Verizon can't fix the call quality issue, I have no use for this phone.
