Ok, Old Subject But I want Some New Info

Basically I wanted to find out what you guys are doing to RENIX 4.0s and what REALLY works. I'd like better power and maybe some better fuel economy. Im not trying to hot rod the thing, thats why I've got two muscle cars, and why I say fuel economy Im not looking for some magical improvement. Just something reasonable. I've been reading around a lot and being a car junkie and auto mechanic I've got a pretty good understanding of things. I just wanted to see what guys were running for simple bolt ons like TB, Intake, Exhaust and what not. I DO live in Cali so I've got some laws I need to obey for smog and I'd like to keep the good reliability and drivability. Has anyone found a GOOD RENIX bored TB? I can't seem to find a good place to buy one, any one swap out injectors for better ones? Im not looking for more flow but how about better more accurate fuel delivery? I guess I just want to know whats good bang for the buck...also just for the hell of it...whats everyones tires size, auto or manual tranny and maninly i want to know more or less what other guys get for miles per tank??? just wondering...Any RENIX info would be sweet!

i'm gettin about 25 mpg or so on 30's with 3.55's, not paying attention to the speedo, but to the distance travelled, and how much gas was used. (all stock)
you could put the high output head on pretty easily, and that will help with power quite a bit. last time i did it it kinda killed my mpg's a bit. try to pm trailratethis on here, he sells bored throttle bodies, and so far they seem prett popular around nashville, and he sells them cheap enough to offset shipping costs.

Nice I'll have to contact him and see how much they go for. I've got a rebuilt 95 HO engine already. 25 is pretty freakn good, thats a 4.0 or 2.5? I do like 70 percent around town driving but ive got 32's and 4.56s and i always get 15 or 16 no matter what. around town and going 80 on the freeway on road trips...mainly i just want a few more mpg so my range is a little better for my long desert and trail runs, you know?

i have a 4.0, but i drive 65 or so on the interstate, and run my tire pressure at 32 on the road. i still have my catalytic converter and everything, but since i'm in tn, if i ever bash it on a rock i'll remove it rather than replacing it. i'll prolly lose some mpg's when i go to 31's or 32's, but it'll be worth it:D i'm waiting till i can afford to reagear it to go bigger. right now let's just say i have lots of room for flex;)
i got better mileage with my old 5spd, but this jeep was only $600, so i jumped on it.
it seems like the renix motors last longer and have better mpg, but are lacking in the power area. i haven't done anything to this motor except a homebrew cold air intake, (pvc pipe with vato-zone cone filter) but only because the stock air cleaner was missing when i bought it.

Driving eighty on they freeway is probably most of your problem. If you are the type of driver that hits 3/4 or full throttle at all in your driving you are going to get bad mileage. I know this from expirience. I used to drive this way. And I would get around 14 to 15 mpg average. I changed to driving cruise set at 65 on the highway and all of my shift points from 3000 and up to below 2000 and real easy on the throttle. I may not be fast but what do you know I'm getting 17 to 18 again. That was purely driving technique change. And done with and acurate speedo and using the same pump at the same station for an average measurement. For refference I'm driving a 97 four door 4.0 ax15 with 4.10s and 35 bfg ats and a super 40 flowmaster. I have a few upgrades I'll be making in the future but all I have on it now is that muff.

lol yeah i know, actually i shift always around 2500 except when im come off 1st gear i shift around 3k so i can get a little speed up before i grab second...lately i've been starting in second becuse 1st kind of sucks some times. but you know i've tried driving my jeep real nice and easy and it makes no difference, same as when i've got it fully loaded for a weekend of fun and im driving up 80 to reno. 15 mpg, always. haha its as if my jeep wished it were diesel.

haha yeah, 25 always seemed a little high. id be happy with 18 average, atleast that will add up to long time between fillups. I just hate having crappy range. hell, if i can get 2 or 3 miles per gallon more while im out and about thats the same range on a tank of gas as if i carried an extra jerry can. on a good note my jeep passed smog, one more gross poluter on the road still!!!
