ok, lets talk about money

Well, lets see, probably about 10k over the last ten years or so, which is pretty good all things considered. Some stuff is occasionally hard to find, being in Canada, but our dollar ain't doing too bad overall. I still hate to order anything from the US due to the exchange taxes and all. The way i look at this though is, I have a son out of wedlock whose mother blocked me from ever meeting, happened years ago when i was young and stupid. I did however have to pay maintenance and support for eighteen full years. I went over all of my receipts and stuff a few years back when he turned 18, and unbelievably the total was just shy of $230,000.00 CDN. So when i compare that, well, at least i get to wheel my jeep....

ok my turn...
99 SPORT... $12000 2 years ago.. + another $2000 for the RE lift, GoodYears and TJ Canyons...

I think I'm still NEGATIVE about a grand...

Got my old peice of s**t '90 for free. Wrecked it, and got $4000 from the insurance company. (It was barely worth a grand :D) Spent $2200 on my '96, so far about $800 in extras.

I'm a poor boy so I did mine on a tight budget.
86 (with the pretty good p.o.s.) 2.8 $1200
3.5" homebrew lift $100
m12 warn winch $230
used 33's $75
front d-shaft $50
new u bolts and misc pieces $70
sheet metal to fix all the rust that started showing 3 months after purchase $10 (van roof from wrecker)

tons of free stuff and help from friends
rubber for fender flares
steel for front and rear bumpers

total about $1735 (not too bad if i do say so myself)

Between $70,000 and 80,000, Cdn, including purchase price. Bought it new, took it to a custom shop and had it lifted and crap, then took it to the woods to beat on it. Brought it back to the dealer a month later, and their jaws hit the floor. It's been damaged and fixed a lot, and upgraded.
I love telling people it's a 2000. Not many folks believe me...

I've spent a bit more with the labor of most of these things, but a lot of the prices include labor. I've gone through all kinds of shocks and shock mounts, but that list would take too long. These are the essentials. I'm going to add it up for the first time right now. I'll post pics when I come home at x mas (im in switzerland).

Boy...lots of expensive mods there, huh? I got my '89 XJ from my father-in-law for a steal...$2,500. Since, I've put a 3" Skyjacker lift, 31" BFG AT's, steel extended brake lines, and swaybar disco's. That's it for performance...the rest is stereo equipment, hi-lift jack, first aid kit, on-board air, etc. All in all, I'd say about $2,000 so far. My "to-do" list is currently at about $4,000, including a re-build on the 4.0 L engine (it has 247,000 original miles...needs some attention).

WOw , it seems like you guys paid alot i paid 3500 for a 94 with a lift and 33's. since then i paid 600 for a locker and gears. and everything else i have built myself.

paid $9,500. in 2002 for a 97xj- country , fully equiped. work in progress, spent XXXXX all in wholesale parts :shhh: my wife says to much :bawl: not done yet :eyes:

i have a '87. have about 10 to 15k into it.......

can i add all the beer i've drank working on my rig. it would probably double the value.

I'm at about $7300 total, out-of-pocket cost. That includes the purchase price of the vehicle and both sets of tires and rims I've purchased for it. It's a '93 with 108K on it right now, but has a salvage title from a wreck.

jks adj. CA's 500
upgrade from 3.07 to 3.55 axles 300
used 30's with rims 200
Garvin wilderness rack 400

Total
7500

I started figuring it out once, but got scared and stopped when it broke $20,000cdn. That might not seem too bad untill you consider the fact that aside from the 4.10 axles it's completely stock. That's just the puchase cost ($7800) and the cost of repairs. This of course includes the $4800 to peice it back together after a friend drove it into some really big rocks at about 70km/h. This is for the '91 that I've owned since '97. I don't think our '89 (bought last spring) has cost us $3000 yet.
