oil in the the air box

a quart of oil every 200mi is ALOT of oil to be losing. Even though it seems like it's coming from the front of the valve cover, I'd be willing to place a bet that your losing alot of that oil from a leaky rear main seal..or worse case scenario your rings are worn or you have a bad cylinder or something.
Have you actually checked the rear main seal? Sometimes when your at idle you won't lose much oil because there isn't much pressure pushing it out, but when you get on the freeway and your pushing higher RPM's and higher oil pressure it'll really flow outta there.
Definately fix the breather hose, but don't rule out the rear main seal either.

I recently switched from dyno oil to 50% synthetic. I had not previously had any leaks at all with the dyno oil (used less than 0.5 quarts in 3000 miles on a 245,000 mile engine), now I am loosing 2 quarts every 100 miles. :shiver:In my case the only leak (that I know of) is from the oil filter adapter o'ring! The synthetic must have cleaned the trash out that was sealing it.:banghead:

The rear seal, distributor shaft and o'ring seals and the valve cover gasket are leak free, and new on mine.:)

Both the Dyno and the synthetic were multi viscosity, 20W-50 weight oils.

So be sure and check the oil filter adapter and the distributor seals, o'rings for oil leaks too!:yap:

Try this for a cheap and easy fix. I did mine about 500 miles ago and havent had the problem since. Plus its a lot cheaper and easier to clean out than the plastic lines.

Does anyone know where I can get a PCV valve for my 94 4.0? Autozone and Kragen both don't list the part.
The 4.0 doesn't have a PVC valve. The rear tube on the valve cover is a CCV tube or a metered port. Look at the Mad-XJ article for an updated tube. Its not that much money.
As to the '88, mine is/was too. I replaced the valve cover with a '95 valve cover. Then I adapted the hoses.

Yea Im sorry I havent been on in awhile. The line I am talking about is the stainless line comming from the valve cover. I just bought some 5/16 brake or fuel line and made my own. To hell with paying for plastic. Plus you can clean them out when ever you want without breaking them. It seams to have fixed my oil in the air box problem. It is real simple and you can pretty much route them how ever you want. Plus I think they look better. Also othe BLUE hose is silicone. I wanted to get rid of the vacuum block and simplify everything. If you notice I have changed all of my vacuum lines to stainless. Its very easy and cheep. I think all together it cost me about $10.00 and took about and hour. The main thing is thake your time and measure twice cut once.

I have some left over. We use it at work and when a roll gets down so far we throw it away. So I grabbed up a bunch and put it to good use. Why fill up the land fill right. Any way I used it on my coolent lines and then for my air vent hose. I opened it up a little and gave it a less restrictive route to travel. Not sure if it help anything or not but my rear main hasent leaked since I changed everything over.( I also did my vacuum lines in stainles left over fuel line )PM me and I will try to get some more. I know I may have just opened up a flood gate but.... I will see what I can do. No promisses.

I called the local Jeep dealership about buying those three parts from the [email protected] about buying parts 4762592, 53004838, and 53004868. He wanted $136! Anyone know where I can get those parts cheaper? The web site lists them for about $75.

You can make your own for under $10.00. loo at my pics. Notice the stainless lines from the valve cover. Its easy to do and it will last longer.
