now WHY would you give advise like this?
you acknowledge the fact it is ILLEGAL... however you make a lame excuse to make it all ok??? you have no clue how much effort people put into making AND keeping things legal as well as seeking new private land for YOUR BENEFIT...
IT IS ILLEGAL.... plain and simple.. niot my laws... but when someone breaks the laws they make ALL OF US look like A-HOLES..... OHV enforcement might not be at the top of the priority list in most places but that by no means makes it ok...... i don't sit on state planning board meetings because i enjoy the company of Sierra Club attorneys ya know.. i sit there for YOUR BENEFIT!

think about it before you post something like this again please.....

why cant you off road in ct???

because the state passed a law a few years ago that restricts vehicular use on state property.. Ma is similar in that there is a 1000# limit to the size of vehicles that can use public/state land for recreation.. over 1000# you must stay on an established open road... quads and bikes can tear the hell out of the forest with no regard to roads.. they can make their own...

as far as breaking gates, power lines and junk cars.. think you better get your story straight before you throw stones jackson... i dont think therer are many "idiotic club members" who would do that... i'd be more likely to point at the guy who doesnt care... unless you have SPECIFICS, DO NOT GENERALIZE! it's makes you sound like the greenies when you do that..

the question was posed about wheeling in CT...

it was pointed out ACCURATELY that it is illegal....

why argue the point? you pretty much made your point that you dont care...

you two need to get a room or something

and btw,

Really? if you dont care why are you here using this board, to promote renegade wheeling, think about how careless your comment is, who's "u guys", me? mike? who's leaving a junk car on a powerline trail, someone you know? The fact is that the "i don't care" part of your comment doesnt do you much good, maybe you are conciencious about where you wheel illegally, it doesnt change the fact that you're trespassing. I dont blame Mike for sounding annoyed at you, what you are doing by "renegade" wheeling in different places arount CT, is illegal, (including just about any powerline trail in Ct or most other states for that matter.) it trashes what a lot of others here work at on a regular basis, where were you all when it was rainy and nasty out last Saturday when some of us went up to Greylock and hauled trash all day? Stuff like that helps us, not running your yap on a board about how much you don't care, if you really don't care you dont belong here - go back to JU, or STFU

Wrong.

A lot of peoiple care.

A lot of people dedicated to working very hard to get LEGAL access to places for wheeling care. People who illegally wheel on private land or in state forests are the reason it's so difficult to get permission to wheel in Connecticut.

NAXJA and the North Atlantic Chapter do NOT condone wheeling where it isn't legal or where you don't have permission to be. We put a lot of effort, along with a number of other clubs and associations in the northest, into identifying places to wheel and trying to get permission to do so legally.

It's like the old saying: "If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem." Please don't encourage more people to become part of the problem.

Dude Mike just spent all day last Saturday cleaning up some trails. So you need to get your facts straight b4 you type.

NAXJA NAC "idiotic members" have participated in huge trail cleanups in New Jersey (Pine Barrens), Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, as well as having "idiotic members" who are certified as Tread Lightly! Master Trainers.

What have YOU done for the sport recently?

--so how do we make it legal to wheel in ct again. and were to we go to get permission to wheel legally.
--I agree its the people who dont care that make things harder. theirs a dirt road in my town, (on the map) and i drive down it all the time, and it seams that every time i come out, i have a full bag of trash. their another spot on water supply land, i like to hike to the top of the mountain, well i took a hike up about a week ago, the first time back up in about a yr, and i couldnt beleive what i saw, borken glass everywhere, trash all over the place, empty bear cases..... and the list goes on. so its people that "dont care" that make things worse!

it would be a huge undertaking to try to change the states current policies.. but letters tto your senators and congresssmen are the place to start.. but a few emails alone wont do it.. it would need to get backing by some kind of organization with some political clout in Ct to make the state take notice.. legislation is a big dirty game.
we put alot of effort into identiying private land/roads we may be interested in and contacting owners and such to see if we can get acces to use their land for "recreational purposes", an organized club with an insurance policy has alot to offer a land owner.. we have all kinds of agreememtns with owners.. some of them just let us use it, others ask that we haul out some timber for them, cleanups, and our insurance policy will protect them from any lose or damamge that may be incurred...
private land is where it's at... East Coast 4 Wheel Drive Assoc has over 2500 acres of exclusive private land access between NJ and NH.. and we are always adding more..

Here's a very strong case for caring about what you are doing.......read it and weep.....
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=55555

if you havent wheeled around there you would wish you had.....

If there's a call to send letters , go to a trail cleanup, make calls, or whatever, stuff like this is the reason you do it. if you dont then you are part of the problem , that should be simple enough to understand.
