OEM Roof Rack

I just installed factory roof runners and a custom rack. I was thinking of installing a single factory rail. I know the newer style rails are pushbuton and slide back and forth, but can they be removed without taking the runners off the vehicle?

To remove the newer style you just remove the two end [both fronts or both backs] caps, push the buttons and start sliding them towards whatever ends you removed. Easy... then put the end caps back on...
