So ive got a cracked O ring, and i guess thats theres a special tool that you need to take it off. Does anyone have this tool, or know how to take it off? If you do would you mind helping me one night do it. Im going to change oil, oil filter then change the O ring, so if you could help, i would really appreciate it. Im eather going to do it thursday night, or sunday. If you know how or have the tool let me know and we can figure it out.

I take it you're talking about the o-rings sealing the adapter to the engine block?

The only "special tool" that is required is either a 5/8" box wrench (RENIX is nice like that...) or a short 5/8" hex or T60? key.

The hex key is easy - you can just buy something that large at your local hardware store (mine carries up to 1"/25m/m on the shelf) and cut it short. The Torx key is a little more difficult - people around here usually end up cutting off the working end and welding it into a cheap box wrench to make the "limited clearance version" that you need.

Ya thats what it is, its called the Oil filter adapter O ring i guess, but really? its not as hard as people say it is then, because my mechanic said theres a special tool that u need, and should take it to a shop?

The only "special tool" needed is a driver to remove the large screw holding the thing down - and that largely depends on your year. Try searching for <oil filter adapter o-ring> to see how other people have handled the issue, and what size you are likely to need.

And crawl under and look at the head of that screw - if it's a hex recess, a hex key will work. If the thing looks like the Star of David, it's a Torx bit you'll be needing.

Ok i do that tomorow, but idk where the adapter o-ring is. Where exactly is it? so i know where and what to look for?

If you buy the o-ring from the auto parts store you will get one large o-ring. If you go through a dealer you get three o-rings 1-large 2-small. The small ones are for rebuilding the adapter and the large one is for sealing the adapter to the engine block. I just used the large one when I did it as the adapter was not leaking. You are going to need a short t60 bit as the gap between your frame and the adapter is very tight. I had to weld a t60 bit to an old wrench for clearance and it was a F*cKiN PAIN TO GET OFF!!! Took me about an hour to complete! Good luck!

Read http://www.yuccaman.com/jeep/filter.html to get an idea what you're actually dealing with. Your mechanic only sounds as though he's trying to make sure you're scared into paying him to do it...and it sounds like you're on the verge of believing him.

Do you have a slightly more specific location than 'colorado' ? There's a ton of folks in Colorado from NAXJA, and more than likely a few of them live nearby.
