in need of a decent 242 to throw in my heep.. mine is toast.. not looking to spend a fortune but tryin to avoid hittin the junk yard

put a 231 in it unless you actually use the full time 4wd option often, the 231 is a much stronger case and will bolt right in with no mods.

at this point i just need another t-case bro... can't drive her as she is now...

I wish I still had the one you gave me, but I eventually gave it to Max (webdog). I ended up just rebuilding the one I had. The chain that came out of mine was in perfect condition and not stretched at all. If you buy the one I posted above, you can have the chain that came out of my 242 and all the bearings that were in perfect condition. There ended up being nothing wrong with my 242 so I have all the parts that came out of it and they are all in great shape. If you aren't sure how to rebuild the tcase, JeeperJohn can help you out on that. He did mine.

thanks brad i saw that but i rather not have to deal with a rebuild as little as the jeep gets driven i rather just do a direct bolt up and be done with her.

maybe just pull mine and see wtf is wrong with it.. its growling bad when you let off the gas pedal.. but quiet when given her gas

u joints are good - recently replaced.. gotta be the chain

brad - wanna help me figure out a rebuild with your chain lol

I would be happy to help you do a rebuild but my experience is ZERO. That's why I had JeeperJohn do it. The 231 is pretty straight forward but the 242 is a lot more complicated and when I looked into the steps I realized I was probably gonna get over my head. BTW, my neighbor is currently digging through his garage trying to find that 1 1/4 socket for you. I will let you know as soon as he finds it.

Got your text that you found the socket. If it doesn't work out then let me know. My neighbor ran out of light and couldn't see well enough to continue looking in his garage but he is certain he has the socket.

ok my older bro came over early this morning and rebuilt my t-case for me so i'm good now.... had a streched chain and a couple back bearings lol...

Is it all back together? If you still want my chain and bearings let me know.
