Exploring a little of the Violin Lake area in B.C. after chewing through a bit of snow I came across a little more snow, didn't appear to be too deep, maybe a couple inches, to my suprise , it was a little deeper as I sank and high centered on the diffs. After an hour of chewing and about a dozen pulls on the old superwinch I was out. Kind of enjoyable, good practice. It would have been a couple hour walk out if I was winchless. Here's a couple pics-neither of wich were in the deep of things but you get the idea!

Actually, I stand against the metric system, I think its B.S., they measure out preciptitaion in millimeters, we have km/liter fuel measurements, kilometers, km/h,Imperial gallon to US gallon conversions I hate it all, We do a lot of converting for no good reason (IMHO) . The only metric that I can stand to use is my metric craftsman set.

sig worthy!!

where is Violin Lake?

In January, I moved to Vancouver, and have been wanting to take a trip to somewhere a bit more off the beaten path.
I went about 100km along the fraser river recently, but thats been about it for me so far.

whats the story with B.C. wheeling?

I crossed the river at Boston Bar and followed it North on access roads up to Lillooet.

The google map shows the route on 12, which you can see in the background in the photo above.
However, if you zoom in on the map, you can see the west side of the river is drivable.

Anyhow, I would be interested in any knowledge you may impart about wilderness access in B.C.
Plus, if you need a solution to the don't travel alone situation, here I am.

by the way... ...at least you had something to winch to!

when i was driving out here from chicago.. ..i started to see snow and mountains.
that tends to make a guy from wyoming excited again, after living in the corn, so to speak..
..excited = trouble
i promised myself:
'this will make a nice picture, then i will turn around' ( i think its a nice shot )

but i didn't turn around:

so i began to dig with my snowboard:

i got pretty good at using that double sided shovel.

Wow a Canadian that agrees with us ha just giving you a hard time man. At work we use the Metric System. That could be because Cummins is doing so much business outside the US these days
