Not just another fan clutch question

I have a question for all of you guys. My GF bought an 95 XJ that has been chopped and exo'd. The motor is not original and the radiator was located in the rear(from a Saturn with electric fan). I scrounged a radiator and all parts to put the radiator back in the front. I went to put a new fan clutch in and the fan blades hit the water pump pulley????? Yes I had the fan on the clutch the correct way. I think it says forward or front on the fan. Any ideas. I checked the Hayden/ Imperial website and all of the 4.0's pretty much used the same fan clutch. I have Imperial part # 215101. It looks like 215126 is just about the same part but it is larger diameter and it moves the fan a 1/4" away(bounus), and I think it is for the ZJ. No matter on that part.

Let me know if any of you have dealt with this.

Thanks guys.

this is full on tech, and would be better asked in the tech forum if you want answers.

Have a Moderator move this to mod tech.

I've never run into this either. The popcan is an electric fan and the baby jeep is stock.

mac 'anything is possible with a jeep tho' gyvr

I seem to remember a spacer between the fan and clutch.

Rev
I pulled the fan and clutch from the same junker that I got tha rad and there was no spacer. It is for sure possible it should of had one and some PO ditched it at some point. I am thinking I should get the engine numbers and try to see what the engine is out of. I thought the guy said it was out of an XJ, but I was so stoked to see the GF get her own Jeep he could have said it was out of a Rolls Royce.

I'm still having difficulty visualizing what you've got going on there. Post up some pics so we can have a better idea of what you've got going on.

My bet is that its something simple.
