Northeast Snow Storm

I've been in Illinois for a few days on business.. and today we've got blizzard-like conditions and probably a foot of snow.

most of the other guys from out-of-town have cancelled and delayed flights.. the ones there were driving are staying the night because the roads out are so bad.

I can't wait to see if i will be able to get back into Albany NY tomorrow afternoon... I get the feeling that I'll be sleeping in Detroit tomorrow.
my girlfriend will be THRILLED for sure. lol.

It does appear that it will snow all night there and change into rain/ice/sleet/MESS mid-day. Should be pretty awesome.

keep your jeeps upright!
rock on!

sounds great..but i tried to put my 4wd on pulling into the neighborhood so i would have it when i pull out of the garage...but it feels like something is dragging and i come to a complete stop when i let go of the gas pedal..i was looking forward to the snow tomorrow!!!

Well, latest report from NWS for my area is a total of 19-31" for tonight through the day tomorrow. Too bad I have to be at work no matter what the weather...

Damn....your lucky WMUR says 6-12 for the seacoast, then again, how often are they right?

Overnight: Snow developing. A few inches of accumulation by daybreak. Lows: 12-16 with a light north wind, shifting to the northeast late.Wednesday: Snow, heavy at times in the morning. Snow will likely change to a mix of sleet and freezing rain by early to mid-afternoon. Turning breezy with highs in the mid to upper 20's. Winds: north/northeast 12-22 mph, picking up to 15-30 mph late in the day.Wednesday Night: Any freezing rain and sleet changing back to snow before tapering off overnight. Windy with reduced visibilities. Total snowfall possible: 6-12".Thursday: Partly sunny and windy. Highs in the lower 20's.

Well, hopefully Lee is fair enough inland not to get that mixing crap, I really don't want ice and sleet. Maybe the snowmobiles will actually come out of hiding for the second time this winter.

Right now they're saying about the same as NWS for me. WMUR is saying 2-4" by morning and 15-25"+ accumulated by Wed night.

Everyone got shovels ready? :laugh3:

NWS is still calling for 8-14" down here. I keep checking the surface analysis and radar to see if that low is tracking this way, and it looks like it is. Usually NWS is pretty clear in all their discussions but this storm they've been kinda vague as far as predictions so I think it's still up in the air (no pun intended) where exactly this storm will move through. I don't think work is happenin tomorrow though so I'm hoping I can get some turns in skiing...
So far just north of you its just a coupla inches of wet snow with ice on top.

how far did you drive on dry pavement in 4WD?? your 4WD should work pretty much immediately when you engage it so you really dont need to do that in advance. sounds like drivetrain binding to me.

This storm is dissapointing me!! Anyone in ct farther north have any better reports than 1/2" of snow and ice?

Up in Springfield, MA its been all sleet

When I went to bed around midnight it was just starting, light snow, when I woke up at 4 it was sleet and its still sleet now at 10 am.

I took a trip to DD and I didn't have to put it in 4wd, roads weren't too bad

I'm taking a trip to Jiminy Peak in the Berkshires to try and ski in some powder, they are suppose to be getting all snow out there

Try working for a Jeep Aftermarket Parts Company where most of us drive Jeeps... and having your 4WD stop working and your starter freeze. I had to get a ride from a higher up :-X

We've got a good 4" of snow on the bottom, then 1/4" of ice accumulation, then 2-3" of ice pellets, and some more ice accumulation.. in that order. "Ice Storm Warning" here... fun!

Anyone who has to drive, take your time and slow down! :)

That's pretty much on. I started to see snow about 11:30 last night and it's all sleet right now.

What a mess we have here. Now it looks like the snow will move back in sooner than expected.

Everything is perfect here, I haven't measured yet but I imgine that it is at about 4" of heavy snow, but not the wet nasty stuff, about to take the snowmobiles out so I'll measure then.

Light snow here and the sun is starting to come out. Sustained winds of 15-25 MPH with higher guys (I'd estimate 40-50 MPH). Looks like blizzard conditions.

I hate all of you that got actual snow and not ice/sleet/snow mix.

LOL, no doubt. This morning in Hoboken, we had a couple inches of snow and some brisk winds. Then came the damned ice pellets. Walking the dogs with those things blasting my eyes was no fun. Then off to work in Manhattan... I guess they do not plow much there. A few inches on the roads, very icy/slick sidewalks... yuk. Ice pellets all day, turned back to snow sa the temp dropped back down to the low 20s.

Just got home from work. Came home to about 9-10" of snow waiting for me to clear it... and it's still coming down hard. Wind is pretty bad in some places. One section of road that I drive home on was windy enough that it pushed me into the snowbank on the side of the road.

Originally they said it was going to stop late tonight, now they're extending it to sometime tomorrow.
