non xj but zj factory radio question

stock radio just scans through the stations, and is fuzzy on all stations. i found the anttenae cable un plugged under dash and reconnected. nodifference. then removed stock radio from dash and checked connection at back of radio, all good. what next????

did you check for continuity in the antenna cable?

Are you sure the stock radio just hasn't crapped out? to check continuity on the ant. cable you need to get it out of the front fender and get to both ends of the cable, then using a multimeter check the resistance of the cable for the center conductor and the shield.

On XJ there is a inline Antenna connector inside the right kick panel (by passenger right foot). They tend to disconnect and give one band weak and other gone on the radio.

The ZJ might be the same, -one screw, pull panel and check it!

What year xj are you talking about as the 88mj, 92xj, and 93xj are all one solid cable running from antenna all the way to the radio.
