No fuel pressure.

So over the last few years, I havn't drivin the Jeep much but on occassion it tends to crank no start. a couple times it started again after beating on the fuel pump/tank with a mag light. So I figured the pump was going bad. So this week I finally replaced the fuel pump with a replacement Airtex assembly/module. Thought it was all good and drove it to work a couple times during the week, then tonight after work I jumped in and same old crank no start. Swapped relays, jiggled wires, checked connectors, nothing helped. Has good spark, has no fuel pressure. I did notice the wires at the pump felt warm, which leads me to believe the new pump is shorting/bad. Anyone have any suggestions before I slash the tires and set it on fire? I'll take the old fuel pump with me tomarrow to see if it works with the existing wiring, also going to take a multimeter to check voltage and grounds. Its a 92 XJ 4.6l, AW4. :explosion

Sounds like you might being getting a short somewhere to me and seeing how it was doing it before I would lean more to it being somewhere else not in the pump.

try bypassing the fuel pump resistor (white ceramic block on drivers side fender near air box, they get unplugged or have a loose connection it can casue all kinds of werid issues with the fuel pump)

i believe that resistor is only on renix motors correct me if im wrong. never seen it in a HO

also check the regulator deal on the fuel rail my friends was clogged or something to that extent and would intermittently work some days and others it wouldnt.

Fuel filter clogged? That could cause things to get hot if your pump was over working...I imagine.
