It was a cherokee chief, I think a 78. It was a nice rig at one time and had a lot of accessories. My dad and I just happened to open the hood and noticed a blue line that started near a mounting bracket, followed the lines and sure enough they went to both differentials. I pulled the Carr light bar off it and an aftermarket gas tank skid as well. I should have kept the skid but gave it to a friend.

This was at the stockton yard. Luckily pnp didn't know what they were selling me:D

wow and wow. what gears where in it? pull entire axles or just lockers?

wow that sucks. pnp prob paid like 300$ for the entire rig.
if the dude wanted to , he could have pulled those axles and sold them for 1500$+ with 4.10s and arbs.

Well I’ve finally been making a little bit of progress as of late. I have a stock pile of parts ready for install, just need to pick up my lift in the next couple days. Gonna go with MetalCloaks kit after checking it out in person a week or so ago.
Bought a Dirtbound DIY bumper and built it a couple months ago

As well I bought the rear cut and fold kit from Josh and got it built. Its primered and ready to be finished tomorrow.

Also I grabbed Josh’s 231 with SYE and a driveshaft. Picked up a boostwerks linkage kit and I’m waiting for a new speedo gear.

For tires I went with 265 Duratracs and 16” American racing wheels

Couldn’t help a test fit

Holy crap 2 years later !

Wow it is really starting to look nice with the new bumpers. I do like a white XJ.

I love the ARBs and 44s...

Rear bumper is done and painted. Hammered black was the color of choice to match the front. Still need to drill the holes in the body for the side plates and make some sort of backing plate for them. Other than that I should be set for install.

Well finally got the bumper mounted. Pretty happy overall with the end result, but it is by no means perfect

Backing plates installed using 1” flat stock

Still waiting on metalcloak for the lift. Starting to think about other options since it seems their story changes every week for when it should be ready. First the leaf springs were out of stock, then leaf spring bushings, then coil springs, and now control arms… I’ll give them one more chance, otherwise I’ll go with DPG and clayton arms/trackbar.

Next items on the list are:
Sliders – probably rigidco
Exhaust – magnaflow
Transfercase skid – dirtbound

Still a variety of other odds and ends I want, as well as maintenance stuff, but I’m getting there. Will hopefully be ready for summer wheeling by may.

Its looking sick! Im DDing a 98 XJ with a 5.5in long arm lift and 33s and im getting around 15mpg. On the way to wheeling spots in the bay iv cruised going 80 with no issues what so ever, and no death wobble! Ohh and im not regeard.

And I really like your bumpers man!

I like that bumper. I have the same one, just hacked it up a bit more.
