New XJ addict

Hey all, this will be my first official post here at , I must say, I like the boards so far.

I currently do not own an XJ, but I am in hot pursuit of one, leading into my question for all you Massachusettsish XJers.
I've seen all kinds of posts of folks finding dirt cheap older XJ's. I just want to see if anyone has any idea how best to go about finding one cheap. I'm in the market for an older (88-90ish) 4.0 manual tranny 2 or 4 door. I was hoping to get a trail beater/ maybe drive it to work one or two times kinda car, so it should be beat up and still road legal.

So, if anyone knows where to look, please let me know!

welcome to the board.. its good to see someone else from western mass.. not many of us.. i gotta say i see old XJ's all over the place in car lots and yards.. i have had my eye on an 88 XJ with the Dana 44 rear sitting at a garage in westfield and hasnt moved in almost a year.. story is it has a new engine but never got put back together.... it has a part truck with it as a package deal.. i have been watching it in hopes i make room in my driveway, but that doesnt seem to be happening... what town are you in?

i also know of a 2 door in westfield at a dealer for about $750... never looked at it though..

I'm over in Feeding Hills actually, so pretty close to westfield I found an ad for a 'mechanics special' here in agawam, gonna call the guy tomorrow to check it out. I'll have to keep on lookin over in westfield, I did see one over on union street in the back of a lot, it's most likely a cheapie (can't wait till sunny saturday, truck huntin). I guess i'll have the most luck just driving around then. Back to the search...

Also, I'm on the road and don't have the number handy, but get a phone number for Frank Fredsall in Colebrook, CT (he lives about 10 feet from the MA border) and call him. If it hasn't gone, he has a '90 5-speed that runs and he'll sell cheap to someone who needs one.

im actually in west springfield.. even closer... i saw an XJ and an MJ sitting in the weeds in agawam right where rt 57 ends and you get off the last exit and turn right.. a few houses up on the left , right by the road.. the one i was watching in westfield was not there tonite but was there on friday last week.. the parts truck is still there though... it might have been inside the garage.. i'm sure i'll see you around.

Hey I live in Mass. too. I'm wondering if anybody in these forums lives out near framingham or ashland. Im currently going to school out there and I've seen a couple lifted XJ's. Very nice. A couple of friends and I want to get some kind of four-wheelin' friday going on. e-mail me at [email protected]

Earle from RI is in woonsockett, and a few of his friends are in that area near you as well... you should come out for the columbus day event in North adams. no better way to network and make new friends! probably only 2 1/2 hr trip up there from framingham..

we should hook up johnny... i am planning to get a run together in the westfield area for early november for 1 last outting before i get sick of the trail rig and stay inside for the cold months.. it will be posted in the NAC forum...
