OK, so as a few of you have seen or heard, I picked up a new toter rig. It is a 95 International 4700 w/ the DT466 and an Fuller 6 speed. It is pretty basic as about every International of this type is, but it has everything to get the AC going again and I am deciding on a sleeper/flatbed combo, or a full on flatbed and that way I can put one rig on the back and tow a trailer. It is a LP (low profile) series, but the PO put the bigger tires on it b/c of the weight of the box on the back. I did not buy the freezer box, so it is getting dismounted this weekend and I should have the truck in my possession after that. I just got the truck as a cab & chasis. It really surprised me on how well it drove and the power it had even w/ that big box on it. It will run over 65 very easily, which was a concern of mine. Here is the pic I took of it with the box on it, but I hope to have more pics up this weekend if they get the box off that quick.

Jeff, funny you mentioned that, Camille said the same thing...that way we can also pull the camper with my pickup if it is just a family or non wheeling trip and it is more versatile that way too.

That also makes it easy to set up camp, have a way to get your rig to/from the trailheads, as well as an easy parts runner.

Mount an engine driven Miller in front of the flat bed for extra points.

I still vote for a big ass sleeper and a fifth wheel plate to pull a 2 place gn.

I would do the flatbed with a compartment on the front for tools spares and such and pull a nice trailer behind. This way if you have to travel to the trail from base camp, you do not have to tear down camp every time.

But you will still attend winterfest every year, help out, and see the whole gang. But people will look at you strange because you have no jeep, yet you go camping in a muddy gravel pit in the winter......

I have found a small 36" sleeper that can house a rear seat that folds into a bed. Now that is an option so I can take the family with this rig and still have enough flat bed to park the rig and pull a bumper pull trailer or a camper. The local flatbed distributer said he can ake any type of bed I want, we even discussed putting a dump bed that has removable sides on it so I can use it as a grain truck, then remove the sides and have a functional flat bed. He even has done that with a latching trap door that opens up to a GN ball that is mounted to teh frame...I am really liking this idea b/c it gives me a grain truck, a flat bed and a hauler...

I am leaning on dropping tire size on it so that it will be back at the stock height and ratio of the LP as it came out originally.

Still have a lot of thinking to do......

Tyler, the only reason that I could think of to go back to the low profile tires would be if the truck couldn't move the load with the taller tires. And the taller tires should be better on fuel economy on over the road trips.

Flat bed, grain body & goose neck hitch. Win, win, win.

I was able to pull 60+ through the hills yesterday no problem with that big ol box on the back and it was a windy SOB. The IH466 is plenty of motor in a 4700 to get around and have plenty of pulling power...and the tires have tons of life lef in them so I am probably gonna leave as is for the time being...I would like some rough treads on the back though if I put a grain box on it bc those fields get muddy fast....

yes. Not having room for more people sucks.

Next year the wienerbox may lose it's box.

I found some sleepers for $350 a pop out this way, but I'm not sure I can fit one of those and the Jeep inside.

Strap it to my roof?
