New to the forum! 92' from Colorado Springs.

Long time reader, finally decided to register and get active on .

Got this xj for free about 3 years ago, drove it every day but never really took care of it. Now I'm regretting all that and getting started building it.

Got some grandy wheels and some bfg's. Replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, hcv, pcv, water pump, serp belt, etc. etc. huge tune up.

3 inch rough country kit, new u joints on the rear shaft. Had to chop out every single leaf spring bolt, what a headache.

Picked up a light bar from a buddy for super cheap, still need to get it wired up but it's mounted and ready to go.

Plan on getting 31"s or 33"s soon here and some more goodies for lots of wheeling and camping this summer.

Stoked to be on the forum now and I hope to go wheeling with you guys some time!

Yeah she had 135k original when I got her, now she's at 155k. Other than a mysterious "knock" she runs like a champ.

For the knock the first thing to check is torque converter bolts. (assuming automatic ) May be piston slap as 4.0's are known for after a few miles.Others will be along to fill in the blanks I may have left out.

I checked the bolts on my flex plate and they were plenty tight, I'm not sure if that's what you are referring to.

Torque converter to flex plate bolts.Bought a MJ cheap one time because the owner told me it had a rod knocking. Towed it home and found loose bolts. Tightened them up and the knock went away. Drove it for 2 years until daughter ran it out of oil, then it did knock ! On a Cherokee had the flex plate crack all of the way around the bolts where it bolted to the crank. Started out as a small knock and got worse as the crack grew.
