new to naxja looking for ny xjs

again, welcome abroad....I am about 1 hour north of you.

I'm new to the NYC area. Just moved here from San Jose, CA. I live on Staten Island, which kind of sucks, but at least there is parking, Haven't seen a single lifted jeep here except mine on the street. Where do you guys wheel? and does anyone want to help me put on my AJ's offroad rock rails? I have no garage, no driveway, and only limited tools. I had to drive across the country for the move with only what i could fit in the xj. Anyone wanna help?

there is some prime wheeling in the Ma/NY/Vt 3 state area.. about an hour from "capital land"... we do our Mohawk Madness wekend there in august, but i'm out there at least once a month with another club....

Hi Bert, I'd be happy to help you out with the rock rails, I do have the space and tools, its just figureing out the time to do it, shoot me an e-mail, I'm about an hour north of you.

I'm in syracuse about 2 hours to the west. I ride all the time, mostly in the "Dacks". Our wheeling season is just about over, since many of the trails we ride are NYS 4x4 trails from May to December, and then they turn into snowmobile trails. I will post some trips in march or april to go to some of these places. We've had people come from as far away as Conn. to wheel with us. There's always paragon which prob isn't too far away from you. We've got the tools and the space, but it would be a hike, and a bit cold to do rock rails now that its almost december, besides the NY salt and sand will strip off the paint in one season, and you'll have to deal with re painting in the spring. I'll be in touch... -Andy

Thanks for the replies fellas. I hear ya about the cold, I'm already freezing my ass off. Before Cali, I was in Florida. I appreciate the offers for the space, tools, and help, but you guys are probably right, it would be best to just wait a couple more months. If you happen to see a moss green 98XJ with about 5" of lift and california plates, honk or say hello. Let me know if there are any meet and greets planned.

Hi Bert, my name is John, I also live on staten island. I drive a 1990 XJ with about 6" lift. Actually this is my girlfriend's Cherokee. I started to wheel it and found out how easily I could fit into the tight trails that my other trucks can't. I live in Tottenville and would be happy to lend a hand and the tools do put on your rock rails. I am in the market for a set myself and would like to see the fit and finish. I can bring you on some pretty cool trails that are really close, but you may want to ride with me to keep the body damage down on your '98.
To other NAC members, I finally paid my dues to NAXJA and am excited on getting out and seeing some new trails and people. I wanted to get out to Paragon after thanksgiving, but new gears and lockers are going in this weekend. Sorry for the long post. See ya.

john, what gears and locker? any day now im Finally putting the smitty's on the stocker 99, they have been in my buddy's garage since and im finally going to repaint em and install them. I did some more stuff to the 88too. I went wheeling 2 weeks ago in CT. Got some good pics.

I didn't knw there were so many local NAXJA'ers. I think we need to have a meet and greet or a wheeling trip or something.

i agree... who knows the "BEACON" NY trail?? its somewhere along the Ct part of the state... might be a good central location to get together... if noone knows it i can get a friend of mine who does know it... white stuff is flying soon and we may have to wait till spring.. if someone knows a LEGAL place to wheel and is interested in getting it organized, i urge you to get in touch with one of the out-going or in-coming BOD and talk about it... lets make the NAC about MORE THAN JUST NACFEST..... we have a big area to cover....

i completely agree with you guys. PLEASE lets get together and wheel on LEGAL terrain. Im out for the winter though and although it may sound sally, i am not a fan of winter wheeling. I have been out in other trucks broken in the middle of winter and man does it SUCK. As soon as March gets here i want to go so yeah, lets finally get all us northeast guys out there. Also I want to plan something with long island off road club b/c i have been unable to go the weekends they go b/c of work. But if any of u have seen office space then yeah i dont think ill be making on saturday, or sunday too for that matter. So whenever you go in march and after just post and im in.
