Hey all, I am a brand new member here from NY and I was interested in the Massachusets trails post on this forum. I have a stock 98 xj sport and was wondering if I would truly be ok on the "green" trails. I have a bumper pusher, but no winch, have come-alongs and other varoius gear from trekking on the beach & whatnot out here on the island. What else would be wise to bring along for a weekend camping trip? Any advice would be appreciated and btw, I think this site is really cool! Also, how long do I have to be a member until I can make my own Avatar?

Greetings, Jenn --

As chapter president, I'm happy to welcome you to our group. My XJ is even more stock than yours, so with a bit of moral support from other stock vehicle drivers I'll be sure to beat up on Earle a bit over his choice of trails. :D

Actually, our goal is to have enough vehicles to run two trails -- one for those with modified Jeeps and who enjoy body damage, and some tamer trails for stock vehicles and those people who can't afford body damage (me!).

We only require front and rear tow points and a strap. Winches are definitely optional and sould not be necessary for any stock level trail. The trails in New England (and Paragon!) tend to grow rocks, so skid plates and rocker protection are recommended, but not required.

Check the NAXJA by-laws for the rest of the required equipment. It's nothing expensive, and all stuff you should have anyway.

If you are a member, I believe you should be able to post your own avatar now. If it doesn't work, drop an e-mail to <[email protected]>

Hope to see you on a trail soon. What part of NY are you from -- Long Island?
