New Member New Lift

crap i really need to re-read before i post but i guess you guys get the idea. Again my typing sucks

Stryker: Thanks. I am going to run my 30x 9.50 BFG AT's and pick up a new set of 31 x 10.50 BFG MT's . I want to get as much travel as i can. I see there is a guy in AZ running BFG 33 X 10.50 with the same lift i have and a bunch of trimming but i am a bit short on gears IMOP for that. I have been soaking with PB but also tried some of that new freeze off stuff that worked good. what was the wors part of your rear? the upper shock mounts or the front spring mounts?

Hey sleeper. it is nice i did not relize there was anyone that was a member here this close. I ride my bike over to lake bluff or lake forest almost every morning before work. We need some places around here to play with the jeeps.

The upper shock bolts. I decided to cut open my floor instead of hammer them out like some people did.

Hind site I would have tried harder at hammering them out cause I still havn't repatched the holes I cut. I am lazy lol.

I hear ya on no places to wheel around here. The lack of spots sucks but it makes the trips to the Cliffs or Badlands that much more fun.

Anyways, if you ever need a hand with the Jeep, don't hesitate to give me a holler.

Hey Rev. Thanks. look forward to meeting you guys at a run soon. The wife and i are going to try to make the redbird clean-up / run.

I have some more pics of the front end work coming up soon and the rear end is going to be donw this weekend i hope.

You should make the trail clean-up we'll all take over the Campground like at carnagefest! :D

Sleeper: I will shoot you a PM. I am going to be doing the rear end this weekend if you are out and about. give me a shout and i will let you know where i live.

Tyler: Thank you. I have had a blast looking around in hear. Just need to get out and meet some of you guys do some wheeling and then drink some beers

Aaron: I am looking forward to going down there. My wife loves to wheel and camp and i excited also. This will be the first run with the new parts so it should be interesting since i need to drive her back home also.

ok RAM-ROD,

1st Off...Welcome to the Forum

Try not to cut a hole in the floor of your Heep if you don't have to.

If you have any problems with the upper shock hardware, break em all off and use an air hammer to break the remainder free from the frame.

Then go to the hardware store and get new bolts and nuts.

Then tape the nut into the open and of a wrench and slide it in from the side through the pocket in the frame.

Put bolt in repeat process 3 more times.

Done it on 5 cherokees.

I have done lifts on many different jeeps and I have fought different things on every one.

Mine has a 4.5 RC lift and I sprayed everything down with Sprayon S00103 Rust Breaker Penetrant...much better than PB Blaster...IMO...

and I only fought a couple bolts...

Hope any of this helps,

Garrett(Ertsride1)

Garrett: Thank you for the info. I tink i should be ok My xj does not have a ton of rust as you can see from the pics. So far the only bolts i had a problem with were the lower sawy bar mounts. I was also thinkin if i had to get rid of the weld on nuts that i would try to fish a bolt from the inside out and make a stud. I do have to tell you that i have been looking at the JKS adjustable rear shock mounts to get rid of this problem all together.

Doesn't matter if you have rust or not they will more than likely snap off.

From what I read there is a lil trick you can try and that would be Tighten each one up a hair before you loosen it.

Hmm... i shall try this trick soon!

Stryker: I have tried that trick in the past. sometimes it works sometimes not. I will try it. I think as long as i can get the upper shick mount bolts out and the front leaf spring mounts off it should go pretty quick Saturday at least much faster than the front end.

Thanks to everyone with all the great help.

hope to have completed pics by monday
