:peace: I've been a member for about a week, and am still learning your sight. So I'll post and see if it works. Since I have'nt heard of a chapter in the Texas area, I'm wondering if there are XJ people close I might hook up with. If you see my username, (Gigage) I'm told it is the word red in Cherokee. Anybody reads this, give me a shout. I could also use some help with NAXJA sight so I can post some pics. Thanks 90 Cherokee in Texas

Where in Texas? There are quite a few in Texas but we don't seem to post a whole lot. --------Kyle

I'm in Dallas. And by the way, it's a web site, not a web sight. Just FYI, don't mean to bash your grammar. I'm not sure how much you know about off-roading in the area, but one of the best "legal" places to do it is Barnwell Mountain in Gilmer, Tx.

Where in Texas are you? That will give us a good start for helping you with your Cherokee and finding you a good group and place to wheel.

To post pics, click the square icon at the top of the message window and input the location of the picture (http:// format so you will have to post your pics on a host site. I.e. cardomain). Or you can always post links (Globe with chain links infront) to the pictures on your picture hosting site. However be careful with that because many sites will only allow you to view the pictures off a link if you are logged into the site.

Hope this helps, and hope to see you out there getting some good wheeling.

I'm in the Metroplex, right in the middle. I bought a 1990 Pioneer off Ebay last August. It was actually list by a dealership in Frisco. I've been real pleased with it so far. Haven't done too much yet, new turbo exaust, new 30" allterrains, and a new Rancho 5000 steering dampner. Have some plans but not in a big hurry. She runs very strong and is really clean, I was surprised by the power of that six. Matter of fact I just pull a couple of kids in a GMC p/u out of a rut up to his rear axle going up hill, and didn't even know he was behind me. I build Helicopters for a living, and learning alot about Jeeps right now. Not much to climb around here waiting for a good trip. I'll try and get some pics on soon. Thanks for your replies

My wife just told me the same thing. Whats worse is she's a teacher. Silly just wasn't thinking. But am glad there are people out there that still care enough about good grammar and are paying attention. Where did the username Osprey come from?

Thanks, appreciate feedback from anyone in the area.

I would really like to get out more around here, just need to know where. I'm in Arlington and so far the only dirt I've been on is the unfinished overpass at the end of 360 south. I grew up in south central Arizona, around the Globe area and that was a jeepers dream. I've been in Texas for 30 years and still can't get over most of the land being privately owned. I am enjoying the learning process on the Jeep, lots to learn. We hired a new mechanic at work the other day and he had just sold an '89 model Comanche; he had the complete set of repair manuels, and I guess he thinks I might have something to do with whether he makes his probation or not, so he gave me the whole set. This will really be helpful.

Thanks again, 1990 red Jeep Cherokee

I got the name from something you may have played with or worked with, if you build helicopters at Bell. The Osprey helicopter/plane that the military was interested in for a while.

The closest I've come to one was when I saw one testing at Bell here in the metroplex, but I adopted the name because I thought it was a really interesting concept. I've had the name ever since I heard about the Osprey, which was years ago. However, I lost track of it's development and the last I heard it was scrapped. Could be still going but I don't know.

Anyway, if you need any help building your Jeep or just want to go out and get some experience wheeling your rig I'm always good to go.

The Osprey is still being developed, and actually has been ok'd for limited full production, I worked on the prop-rotor gearboxes (transmissions). The Osprey or V-22 as it is called has become very expensive. I've also worked on the 609 which is the civil version of the V-22. Now I build the transmission and gearboxes for all the other helicopters we sell. I'm having fun with the cherokee and have lots of ideas, and hope to tap some of the experience of the people of NAXJA. This jeep was really well taken care of, it's got a couple of dents but I did that in traffic myself. Well anyway, thanks for the offer of wheeling. Maybe Barnwell Mtn.

looks like JNJ and I are the only ones from the southern side. he's from san antonio, and i'm outta ft hood (when i'm not deployed to the sandbox) but welcome to the boards. great bunch of folks here, theres a lot of info that you can tap into, just take a minute to search for it first, otherwise you might become the victim of a flaming.

i'm also a helicopter geek...however i work on the whole thing, not just building transmissions and gear boxes. its a great job to be had.
