New HiLift Location on the XJ

What happens when you wan to use use the jack and have camping gear, coolers, tools, etc in the rear seating area. You gonna unload all that?
My kids and dog would be in the way on the back seat. I, too, kept mine on the rear bumper for years, and it worked just fine. I just sprayed it with WD-40 every once in a while (maybe three/four times a year).

Achmed, First off.... Nice Heep!! Those are some good pics, I see you actually use your pretty little toy back east:cheers: Yes, most of us out west do get a little cocky at times BUT the fact is Colorado is the most hiked, camped and 4wheeled state in the union! I must say I feel lucky to live here!! You seem to have a wonderful house and wife!! :worship: I am a little bit more humble but my shit is all paid for!! As for the original post and my comment........ well I would not do as you did because my jack would be torn off and become trail fodder:spin1: Anytime you want to spend some of that disposable cash you seem to have laying around come on out and visit, we can beat the snot out our Heeps together!! Oh, mine is not as pretty as yours, several beauty marks... and for the record.... my bb's are in the tires not on them!!:NAXJA:

lol, this thread is great, those are awesome wheelin pics! Should have more on the wife tho. lol. Great looking xj, mine is mounted high on the front bumper in this northern climate and even with 3 kids too I manage to find the time to spray it weekly with wd40, a thorough soaking, I must not have a life. Good work.

i have the 60 in the back of my 2 door and i found if you remove the base plate stand, and slide the jack part so the handle is kinda centered it will slide down right infront of the rear hatch. i keep the other part sin my oh SH*T box. worked well for me thus far.

Wouldnt work for me due to my current rear hatch setup.

Hey your doing so good your garage has a garage! Lucky stiff, I don't have a garage , My house is smaller and so is my business. But I beat you on the wife(26 years) and my kids are old enough to work for themselves. They are always around for a hand out though, so parent beware! Jeep looks alot better flareless by the way.

Ive been carrying the same Hi Lift off road for about ten years. Its been stored outside the vehicle most of that time. It was on the front bumper of my YJ until I mounted a winch there, then I moved it inside the YJ for a couple years. Now Ive had it mounted on the roof of the XJ for a couple years.
The thing is, I dont just drive around with it there every day. I mount it when I go off road and I take it off and put it in the garage when Im not going off road.
Whats the point in driving around with it all the time? Theres no reason you need it to commute or run to WalMart unless its just for looks. After the off road trip take it off the Jeep, claen it up and lube it and store it in the garage until you need it again, pretty easy. Mine has lasted 10 years or so by doing this and it works just as good today as it did new.

What did you do with about holes after you pulled off the bushwackers? b/c i want to pull mine off but dont want big holes from where they were?

And what size lift do you have? could you send me a PM with specs of your XJ

Personally I too think your a bit of a prick, you think your the coolest most extreme thing in the Southeast. But let's face it, that part of the country sucks.;)

I know you post is all in good fun, but I'm curious to know where you got that fact. Having lived in both Colorado and Arizona, I can honestly say that there is a hell of a lot more 4 wheeling in AZ. That's not to say there isn't a lot in Colorado.

AnyBody have a photo of an under the rear seat Hi-Lift mount.

I have a ton of junk under my rear seat, including a folding metal rear shovel. At this point, I'm getting a little worried about the seat unclipping during a roll. It's pretty unlikely that I will ever roll my jeep, but there is jus that small clip holding the seat in place. I know that a hi-lift will fit in there though, as I've seen pics. I know that you need to remove the base. I've considered purchasing an extra seat belt buckle and using the middel seat belt as a factory 'rachet strap' to hold the seat down when offroading.

Best advice yet! I saw the hi-lift mounted on the roof in a few pics. Why not put it up there on wheeling trips then remove it when you get home?

its hard for people to understand why you would mount it there, there are drivers that have to use reverse more than drive...:roflmao: in which case you would have to mount your highlift somewhere else, but for those that can drive and don't need to back up, the bumper is a swell place, sweet jeep, and congrats on living the good life, take it easy!

Better on the back bumper than the front!

So to maintain my things, I can't have a life?

Actually, I have a home....

By no means are these pics to brag, but you asked if I have a life. You make the call dillweed. :)

When it comes to my rig, my wheeling style and the way I do things, yes, you are correct.

Thanks. I've been called worse, even on my own forum.:dunce:

Is your mail man Asian?
Sorry I couldn't resist....
