New HiLift Location on the XJ

You must not wheel your rig because if you did your highlift would not be on the rear bumper like that!!!!!
X2,it wouldnt last long out here! You'd either be hung up on it,or it would be laying on the trail(most likely of the 2).

i like to razz and i can take it.

i dont take things personally.

just funny when 1 person says it will "hang up" then 4 more chime in preachin the gospel about angles.

i dont wheel anything other than my mouse wheel. lol. and a focus, or and maybe the kia sedona we're about to pick up.

i keep my 48'' hi-lift under the rear bench seat.

i rolled my 98 xj and everything stayed where it was supposed to, strapped down. as long as you dont keep it laying in the back unstrapped, im cool.

Out "here"? :Laugh2: You west coast guys act like you are the almighty rock gods with all the rock territory, pavement made from rocks, rock houses, rock trees and eat rocks for breakfast. :eyes: Ya'll have even gone as far as claiming you could climb "The Wall" and "Horsepower Hill" at Mt. Aetna in a stock mod TJ. :laugh2: We are still waiting on that one.

And yes, I could see it laying on the trail if it were 98% of the other cheerleaders on here who couldn't install an air filter correctly. :02of5: I don't do anything halfway.

very nice rig and nice wheelin shots!!

you gotta be careful looks like the only way you would break the hilift is if you backed into a mall parking lot light pole

Here is how it sits now. No more Bushcrackers and she rides on 35" KM2's.

I'd be more worried about the actual jack mechanism itself being exposed to the elements. Ever see how much street/trail debris collects on the back end of your XJ after wet weather?

How about leaving the jack rail where you've got it, and simply remove the jack mechanism and tuck it away inside somewhere where the weather and elements won't beat the crap out of it.

The only thing I have ever noticed is dust and/or grime of which neither will hurt the jack. It's been outside on the roof rails since I bought it last year. No harm. However, I oil it and spray it down with silicone spray once a week. Heck, it's a $50 jack. If it gets marred up, I will buy another one.

Then it obviously has not been exposed to the elements all that much. They do get rusty and bound up. Not what you need to happen, when you need it most. They do sell rebuild kits for the jack, so you can replace corroded parts.

But why put yourself in that situation, when you can avoid it. By the "cleanliness" of your XJ, it appears you have great pride your rig. Why not spread that love towards your Hi-lift as well?

I do.............and quite successfully I might add. :)
A westcoast Guy chiming in, to say Good job Schooling the California Guys.

Remember, Television has made them better then the rest of the country in every aspect:confused1

when in reality, the only reason its a bad idea to have your Hi-Lift on your bumper In California, Is because some 4'5" Thug will steal it and whoop your grandma's ass with it!

Looks more than just dust and/or grime, unless grime is another meaning for mud back east.

Like I said, I maintain it weekly and yes, it has been OUTSIDE on my rig for 6 months and still looks nearly new. Taking care of things is not hard.

You must have a lot of time on your hands to maintain it weekly....do you have a life?

It seems when some of the most experienced members offer to share real life experiences regarding hi-lifts, you seem to have a greater collective knowledge than everyone else here.

I'll give you kudos to a sweet rig....But other than that you're a jackass know-it all....

Ok fine. I'm done here....
