New HiLift Location on the XJ

I got tired of the 60" HiLift jack being on the roof rack because XJ roof rails are flimsy, so I marked the rear bumper, drilled 1/2" holes, tapped the holes and used grade 8 bolts to bolt the jack to the bumper. No clearance loss, out of the way and no more torn up car wash cloths.

It always seems that when you need your HI-Lift, you are stuck in some god awful muck and sometimes your bumper is part burried in it.

I put mine inside, just inside the gate. It's a 48" job, and it just fits. Holds the groceries nice too ;) I know, yours is longer and it won't fit inside the Jeep ;)

its not often I have to worry about mine being too big to fit... but on the bumper like that are you worried about it getting the beats in an accident?
kinda offsets part of the reason to have the bumper to take the hit if your $$ Hi-Lift is gonna take the brunt of it.
other than that, gotta love cheap simple n easy solutions.

Good job....what flavor cookie do you want?
J/K.

I'll mirror what has already been said about keeping the hi-lift there.

It doesn't hang low...I'd rather bump my hi lift than my pretty c-rock bumper too LOL...

I like it Trevor shouldve done his for a rear bumper while he was over there haha

You must not wheel your rig because if you did your highlift would not be on the rear bumper like that!!!!!

Depends what kind of wheeling. Not everyone needs high approach / departure angles: lots of wheeling is done in slippery stuff, not cliffy rock stuff.
Based on his Georgia location, I'm guessing its a forest trail / mud rig that hasn't been to Moab yet.

wow, sounds like yall know whats best for everyone on everything. why do we even need a forum, we could just get your opinions on everything.

hahaha, forest trails..............mud rig............thats funny!

How the hell are we supposed to give you our opinions without the forums???? Oh yeah, your phone number, that I already know RIGHT! :D And YES I find that funny!!!

thanks for the insight. seems you have things all figured out.

Just a little fun pokin...... come on!! Everyone uses their Heep differently and sets it up for the conditions they wheel in!! We all cannot live in the mountains you know...... :patriot:

someone posts up their new mod, both for approval but you have to expect a bit of criticism too. if every thread was filled with 'oooh aaah that so pretty and so smart' this site wouldn't be so popular. part of posting up is getting different points of view, what seems like a good idea to me, may seem right out to lunch to someone else.

odd the OP hasn't been to bothered by the comments.

Nah, I dont wheel. I spend most of my time at the mall. Oh, how about this first shot. More departure angle than ANY of you will ever experience and the rear bumper is still 12"-14" off the ground. ;)
