Anyone remember the thread with the guy who installed the new Satellite ready Chryco stereo in his XJ... I searched like crazy, but found nothing...Any help is appreciated.

You can store about 5000 MP3 recordings and have as well a radio and CD player. At $600.00 bucks it sounds pricey, but by the time you buy the Satellite unit and pay the monthly subscription, it won’t take long to justify this. I’m quite pleased with mine and really haven’t found a beef with it.

Here is a review of the radio:

5000 songs at 99cents a song from itunes + tax + the extra songs that you buy but don't like +cd's that you buy for one song... = $6,000.00

Down load "free songs" pay $75,000 fines to RIAA + jailtime + away time from jeep + ruined career + divorce + alamony = lifetime of regret...

yeah i think that is cheeper than xm. no doubt...

no clue on the cry cor XM write up, might be just as easy to buy an after market one like I did, bestbuy has this piece for $150 it plays mp3 cd's too so i can have th best of both worlds.

The only downside to a headunit that is satellite ready is that you have to be in that vehicle to listen to it. If you get one of the add on tuners, all you have to do is by the cradle for each vehicle. Or get one universal cradle that plugs into the cigarette lighter and then plays either throught the tape deck (or some have a small fm transmitter on them) then you can use it in very vehicle you're in. The sound quality isn't as good but you can move it multiple vehicles. not to mention yu can get a cradle to plug into you home stereo and some of them have "boombox" style units that they plug into too.

I guess if i was going to pay a monthly subscription to something id want it to be used as much as possible.

I wont pay to listen to the radio, i just have a chance to get one of those for cheap and thought it would be a great upgrade to gain a CD player
bah humbug...

I am not paying for radio, I am paying for 24hr a day personal music, news, comedy and information delivery service... yeah it's the only way i can justify it...

I have a kenwood satellite deck and subscribe to sirius. I love it. Its a lot cleaner than the add ons. Maybe not as versatile but looks better in the car. I managed to put the sat receiver under the head unit on my 98 and had just enough wire to put the antenna on the back of the roof. There isnt anything under the seats or hanging out anywhere - its all in the dash where it belongs.

Sirius came free for one year with our new MINIVAN....and it was a life saver/sanity saver on a 16 hour drive to and then back from Philadelphia! I wasn't a fan either, before that experience. But can you justify the monthly, if you only really need it occassionally??? not sure we'll re-up when our free year is done. But it is entertaining! :sunshine:
