Whadda you guys think? I had initially considered putting it on the Heep, but I think my booty-fab re-do of my existing bumper is much stronger for the hard core stuff.......

So, the Proto will likely get mounted to my black '96...... and eventually, I'd like to do this to the Heep: :D

3/16 steel, you would have to try really hard to damage that bumper. If it is truly hollow you could always plate the back of the mounts for reinforcement.

This shows the winch mounts and a little idea of the construction.... I wasn't thrilled about the 2-piece bumper brackets but they could be welded together.......

I don't see any problems with the two piece brackets. Looks well thought out to me.

I don't care what ANYBODY says. I don't like bumpers with no more than the stock mounting locations. Notched holes and the one bolt farther back is not enough for me. Not saying it won't hold up. But you know me, it's gotta be a certain way. And yes, our fab job on your old piece is much stronger.

Or reworked. I still have plenty of plate, might be heavier than you like. It's heavier than the bumper. :)

That would look purdy on a shiny heep.

just an FYI- I cut up a c-rok plate i had laying around and welded it to the drivers side.......not because I was worried about the mounting brackets being weak, mainly because i wanted an integrated steering box plate

I think you'll like how the "bumper" on the front end up my XJ will end up if you want the Heep to eventually look like that. If you can imagine a cross between that, Dave's XJBuggy, and MacGyvers front end, and Jeff's narrowed front end...thats kinda where I'll be ending up :D

Um..... what?

Justin's definitely "officially" 21 now......... I think he just committed a P.U.I. (Posting Under the Influence)

:D

That's not it. For a project that he said was gonna be tight lipped until it was actually done, he seems to be taking every opportunity to tell people about it. The post didn't make sense to you cause no one really knows what he is doing..............:dunce:

P.S. Justin, clear out your inbox.

Cleared :D

Its not so much of really being tight lipped, it was more of people wanting to tell me I was getting in over my head since I'm only 21, and that my level of fab couldn't possibly be up to par with what i'm planning on undertaking undertaking, etc. etc. In short, im buggying the XJ kinda, but its going to be rather unique in how I plan on doing it...
